I play single line Dollar BP and DDB...
Considering the variance on BP is a bit less than half then DDB.
Would be a good strategy move for me to play
2 dollar BP and stay completely away from Dollar DDB...
Two Dollar BP Pay Scale...
Paying pair...10 dollars...
Two pairs.....20 dollars...
Three of kind.30 dollars...
Straight......40 dollars...
Flush.........50 dollars...
Full House....80 dollars...
4-5 thru K...250 dollars...
4-2,3,4......400 dollars...
4-Aces.......800 dollars...
SF...........500 dollars...
Royal.......8000 dollars...
Even though the 4-Aces and 4-2,3,4 are a bit cheap. There are no kickers involved...
The Strategy for BP is simple and all the correct holds make perfect sense...
I think the best part is that BP is so damn consistent for the most part, that the bankroll should not take to
much of a beating because of the low Variance...

I have tried this myself every now and then. Just like any other game it can eat your BR in a heartbeat on a bad day. I haven't yet seen a Royal and quads are still few and far between. The 2 for 2 pair does keep you in the running for longer though and every Deal is another shot for the Big 1, right?

If those are your only two choices, the $2 BP seems pretty obvious, if you have the right BR and frame of mind. Do you have $12,000 to play with? I like to have two times the RF payout to be on the safe side, but one and a half can work as long as you don't panic and drop down to single coin when down a bit. If you are willing and able, go for it.

I got the the 12 grand but there is a slight problem, Bill (The wife). I never play less than max credits when I play. If I have too, I'll drop down in denomination but continue to play max credits. As you well know the royals pop out of nowhere when they do show up. Looks like I got a little work ahead of me if I want to go this route... Thanks, to both of you for taking the time to reply...

It would entirely depend on the situation.

If you are going to play video poker just once or twice every few years. It could go either way. If your goal is to win a $800 hand with the same bankroll, the DDB despite the higher variance will give you a better shot because of the kicker quads.

If you are going to play VP often in which I think you will given the time you've spent on this site. Playing double the stakes on Bonus Poker, the average expected loss is almost doubled than that of $1 DDB since the expected returns are nearly the same. If you are going to play half the amount at $2 stakes, then it will even out better. 9/7 Double Bonus is a better comparison to 8/5 Bonus Poker than 9/6 Double Double Bonus.

I would only play double stakes if it helps me earn more comps quicker or to achieve casino club status quicker. Why I mention quicker is to ultimately spend less time in a smoke filled environment.

Well let me start off by saying, I'm from Texas.
I have to drive 6 hours one way to Lake Charles, La or
drive to 2.5 hours to catch a flight with a descent price. The good news is I do get room and meals comped in either location. But the mailer do me no good, And smoke does not bother me at all.
I don't get to play very much in casinos. I play around 80 to 120 hours a year for real money. I'm in the very sort term play category. I'll have to give your information some thought and figure out which way to go... Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question...
