Today's Double STP Contest

Post by BillyJoe »

WebMan, does the STP come up less frequently if you play fast? I tend to speed along. Today, in one 100 hand session, I had only 2 STPs, both on the deal - one on hand 57, the other on hand 74. I never got an STP on the draw. That, to me, seems way below average.

OOOPS..
I just saw where the contest is just STP, not Double STP. That answers half of my question. Still, does playing speed effect STP frequency?

"Does playing speed effect STP frequency?"No. You have the same chance of a multiplier on each deal, no matter how slowly or quickly you play.

Thanks for the response, WebMan. I guess I am just being my normal, unlucky self, still trying to gain entry into the TOC..

Good to hear I didn't miss the Double STP contest on the way back from Tunica!

<--- Double STP crack addict.
Played it a lot more than the "full-pay" machines this last trip...lol

FYI, billyjoe, the probability of only getting 2 or less multipliers in any given 100 hands of regular STP is about 3.37%. In Double STP, only getting 2 multipliers period would be 1 in 8,417. Yikes.

3.37% is low odds... but translated, that means with 19,115 sessions that were played, you could expect it to happen in around 644 sessions that day. So you're far from the only one who would have seen this.

And also why you need a dealt royal with a multiplier to have a good shot of winning.

Actually, the winner only held 2 to the royal. http://www.videopoker.com/contests/results/?id=749
