Hi all...
just want to say I enjoy this site and have practiced and learned a lot from here.
 
As for the contests and gold memberships, I cannot afford to "ante up" at this time.  The economy has hit our family a little hard so giving up the extra cash right now is a no-go.  As for gold members not winning contests, you know as soon as you walk into a casino that not all of you will leave as winners.  These are gambling machines.  There is never any guarantee that you will have that royal.  It's a crap shoot.  I play the contests, but have never been in the top ten. 
 
Am I worried about that?  Nope.  It's a game.  Same as any of the poker sites, same as pogo.com.  I've been a member of pogo.com for 9 years and all I have won was wallpapers.  No hats, no tshirts, no jackpots.  I go on these sites to release stress and to kill time.
 
I'm not knocking gold members, but please realize that some of us cannot afford to go gold at this time.

I'm not rich either, but I manage it.   For anyone who plays regularly in a casino, it takes just one 250-point quad on quarter play cashed out as "soft profit" to pay for a year's membership.  Skipping one phoo-phoo coffee at Starbuck's each month will do the trick, too, or driving by Mickey D's one day a month instead of pulling in.  Among other things you get daily leaderboards to play for in the game or games of your choice, albeit with no prizes.
