You do realize most new members make a post so they can play in the free contests don't you? Most have no intention of joining the debates or posting further.

Take a look at the keno forum for example. Lots who have only made one post and no one ridiculed them.

Take a look at favorite casino forum. People will post " My favorite casino is XXX"....then we never hear of them again.

It is the debates that make this forum interesting whether you want to believe this or not. Not everyone shares the same belief of how things are run, so they post their thoughts.

Sure it get hostile at times....big deal. Grow a pair!

I strongly agree with most of what you are saying. The exception is your last sentence. What I object to is not a vigorous debate with people strongly supporting their positions but rather when the comments become defamatory and personally insulting. Disagreement fine, vitriol no. It's the general environment, as very little has been directed at me. Why should I or anyone else participate in this kind of environment regarding a leisure activity?

If your referring this to me, I'm 65...
When a take a bath in the tub, I can lay my crewing gum
on top of them and not get a single drop of soap on the gum...
I can't speak for the new members though...

Here is the post from the new member...
I know the post does have it's flaws in the way he's thinking. But it seems to me, he was not posting to join a contest...

I love video poker and I teach college-level statistics. Here are a few tips regarding probability that might help your play.

1. Machine pays such as 100.3 % or 99.9 percent are based on hundreds of thousands of plays. It doesn't mean that you will get back that % of what you play.

2. The probability of a royal flush on the next hand does not change even if you were just dealt a royal. The machine is randomly dealing cards and all possible outcomes have the same probability (possibility) independent of previous hands.

3. Don't leave a machine because of a big hit. It may still be hot. Machines do tend to run in cycles of good hands and bad hands. This works just the same as flipping a coin. Over an infinite number of coin flips, the outcome would be 50/50, the same as the odds. On any one flip, the odds are always 50/50. But outcomes less than infinity will differ. It may not be probable, but it is possible to flip 10 heads in a row or even 100 heads in a row. If you have flipped 10 or even 100 heads in a row, the odds on the next flip (i.e. the next video poker hand odds are same for video poker) are still the same, 50/50. Remember, the machine does not know whether it has hit or dealt you the worst possible hand.

All I'm saying is, if a new member is legit... And he sticks around. Chances are he will continue to post...That's all

If the poster was serious he should have come back to defend his points. People challenged what he wrote but he had long disappeared. Yes some posters were harsh but if you believe what you write then defend yourself.

No I wasn't referring to you but to anyone. However what you wrote about the chewing gum was hilarious!

Case, Que Pasa (Waaasss Up)...
I had seen where a star was awarded for posting on the forum. But to be honest, I did not think
about it when I posted this tread (Till you mentioned it).
Sometimes I post something that does come out quite the way it should have.
This might have been one of them. Looking back maybe I should have not used an example on the post.
This post was intended to try to keep all new legit members to stick around... That's it...
It would be nice if we could get at least a small percentage of the all the register members on
videpoker.com to join us and stay with us...

I could not resist using the joke as a post reply. Perfect opportunity...
This joke was told to me a long time ago. When I was in my early 20's by a an old man that was
a good friend of mine. It is a Spanish language joke so it does not translate very well.
If you think it's hilarious in English, you will fall off you chair if you hear it in Spanish.
I did almost that when he told it to me, while drinking a beer in the beer joint he owned.
I still remember what I asked to get the joke as a reply...
I walked in the bar, he was sitting at a table next to the bar, I went to the cooler grabbed a beer and sat down with
him, I asked him in Spanish "How is it hanging". He answered my question with the joke...
