Keyboard Shortcuts randomly stop working.

I have been playing with the keyboard shortcuts for years. Now, though, they will just randomly stop working. I have to use the mouse to click the play area and then the shortcuts work a few rounds. Then, stop again. Click the play area. Then they work again. Does anyone know why this is happening? Seems to be every time a new ad pops up.
