. . . . the apparent hostility in some of these topics lately. I don't think people would speak to one another this way face to face, even if they did have a disagreement over housing markets.
Enjoying your head in the sand approach. I started this thread discussing why renting in LV is just plain stupid. We all have to live somewhere, as "notes" mentioned several times. Hostility has been rampant in this entire forum for a long time, and your solution is to suspend the guy who bears the brunt of it, AND the majority of that abuse comes from one person, who incidentally wants to RENT and toss over $32,000 out the car window since moving to Vegas.
Yeah, people would speak this way face to face.
Meanwhile, it's a hoot that the same abusive poster who has made piss-poor financial decisions (and continues to do so) LOVES to spew advice everywhere.
Thank goodness old Billy lets me, notes, Phil, and many other folks live rent-free in his head.

HA ha, there's irony in that . . . living rent free. :D :D :D

I offered you $100 to introduce yourself whenever you spotted me playing in a casino. You never did, in spite of claiming to have watched me play. Seems to disprove your face to face banter.
Which of my rent financial decisions am I messing up?
My 2800 foot buy in Bisbee or the $23,000 one on the outskirts? The 2008 328I or the Tesla stock?
Allow me to up my offer. Next Friday, I have a huge amount of free play at the Hard Rock. Join me at the center bar and I will give you $200 in free play. Pick the time. Eight days from now, not tomorrow.

Depends on what part of town you are renting in. My 3 bdr 2.5 bath townhouse in SW Vegas is still 2/3 cheaper than renting a similar one in So. Cal. Renting in North Vegas or East Vegas is even more cheaper, but those are high crime neighborhoods.

My two/two costs about half what a similar apartment in Queens would have run. Ironically, it seems I signed at a great time as my renewal offer is some $175 a month below what a new tenant is being offered. As I have the right to sublease ,with permission, I could make two grand by signing a new lease and subletting it. After all, as notes and dougie so aptly pointed out, people have to live somewhere.

The new Bankrate.com survey places Vegas 47th out of 50 on places to own a house and lists six cities where it cost more to own than to rent. Vegas is one of those six. Then again, the smart money knew this all along.

I plan to spend a few months in Vegas once I pay off my home in Ga. I may officially move there eventually but living there a few months a year should give me a good feel for it. I also plan to stay in Fl, OR, and WA a few weeks a year.
