Latest on Las Vegas/Nevada Casinos

While his article focuses on safety measures at NV casinos, it also cites remarks by the governor regarding the reopening of casinos. https://nypost.com/2020/04/16/las-vegas ... -measures/

I think the Governor will be under a lot of pressure to open casinos sooner than he wants. Vegas can not survive without the income. Plus as casinos start to open across the country in other states it will make his decisions even tougher.

Of course there will be a lot of precautions added to casinos but I believe they will open sooner than later. Say casinos start to open in Wyoming, Montana ect, how long can Vegas avoid it.

Personally I think casinos should remain closed across the country until we get this virus under control. However I don't believe that will happen.

in stats published 04/16/2020, from NYC health dept, 4.5% of ALL deaths with underlying conditions, from covid were under age 45 (no underlying conditions, death rate 1%). nearly 50% of all deaths were above age 75. and, we all know by now that those who are obese and diabetic are much more vulnerable. data from china, if you can believe it, shows deaths under age 10-zero, total deaths from all ages under age 49, from those infected, was 1%.

knowing those numbers, why should casinos stay closed? why should most businesses stay closed?

the most vulnerable groups should stay at home, not everyone.

Notes, classic example of blatant, out-right, self-centered, age discrimination.
I know you are not a liberal but still i am appalled! :x

However,on second thought, considering the probable monetary savings. I guess i'm OK with it.

tech, you are right, i am discriminating against my own age group.

but, seriously, about 31,500 have died in the usa. over 12k of those are from nyc alone, how many others from big, dense cities like detroit, new orleans, etc. and, if the most vulnerable group, over age 75 with obesity/diabetes problems, were taken out and this is just not the massive problem, that many have it out to be.

if we could have kept that most vulnerable group seperated/at home, the damage would have been less than a normal flu season.

i am 66, have underlying heart problems, i need to be smart and stay home. but, under 50, no major health problems, just be smart and get back to your life.

Check out articles on Sweden. I'm not going to put any links out there, because there are arguments out there both ways. They are living the experiment that some are suggesting.

New, just like you, i have read/seen reports on how sweden is handling their chinese virus situation.
i think it is fair to say that no conclusion can be drawn on which country handled their own situation best. too early to tell.

but, in our country of 330 million, a few things seem obvious, the majority of deaths occur with folks 65 and older with diabetes/obese, along with heavy concentrations within large/dense cities. that is where the effort should be made to reduce the deaths.

I am not the sharpest tack in the box and have missed the latest reports on Sweden.
I seem to recall they were not restricting, but not sure, could be off.
Would appreciate any links to educate myself.

The ONLY sensible thing you have ever posted . . . because your constant abuse of the poor apostrophe in EVERY one of your posts is stunning. Can't provide you any links regarding how to properly use punctuation, but perhaps pick up a second grade grammar book. :pinch:
