As a local, no one goes to the Container Park, it's junk shops and lots of dubious folks about. Hard pass
Plus, errr . . . it's HOT here this week. Did I mention it's HOT?

Red Rock Casino is crap Station Casinos owned. Enough said.

Red Rock Canyon is okay in the HOT summer if you do the Scenic Loop drive only (no leisurely walks) and you do it when they open at 6 am.

Ill have to add Mob Museum to our list.

Can you walk to the El Cortez from Fremont? I have heard good things about it in the past but was not sure where it was exactly. As for Red Rock we went last time we visited Vegas, lots of VP for sure.

I was told to check out Green Valley Ranch and Southpoint but not sure exactly where they are in relation to the strip.

They both are somewhat (six or seven miles?) south of the strip.

While at Paris go next door to the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood and look for Ocean One Grill. Great lunch menu as everything on the menu is 5 dollars. This includes a delicious half pound sirloin burger. Actually everything is good. Also 3 cocktails for just 10 dollars!! Here is the menu:

While in the Miracle Mile you can also eat breakfast at PBR grill. Excellent food and priced right

Green Valley Ranch is in Henderson . . . but, it's a Station Casinos property. UGH.

South Point is on Las Vegas Blvd, it's the end of the city bus line, so easily accessible.

I won't gamble at either of the above because they are very smoky. You don't mention if you are a smoker; if you are, it won't matter, though I think South Point is a respiratory nightmare. I like breathing, so I won't go ever, don't care if it has respectable VP. Incidentally, the hot dog cart at South Point is a locals' favorite: $1.25 each for a hot dog AND . . . they are Vienna Beef dogs!! (YUM)
There's always a queue at the cart, and they will only sell you three at a time, maximum.

The Cortez is one block east of the Fremont St Experience. Well worth it. Green Valley is pretty far away from the Strip and is nothing special. South Point might have the best VP in the valley and is very easy to get comps in. It is about ten miles south of where you'll be staying. They used to have a shuttle bus between it and the Fashion Mall but I don't know f they still do, or if it for hotel guests only.
Bob Dancer teaches classes at South Point although I have no idea if they have started back up.
I used to highly recommend the afternoon show at Harrahs, Mac KIng. He is a fantastic magician with some pretty corny comedy. The last time I saw him I thought he'd lost a step or two and the mandatory drink was about $15. It's a fun hour and a half.
Maggianos, in the Fashion Mall across from Wynn, had a pretty good Happy Hour pre-Covid.
Lastly, if you like baseball, the new Aviator Stadium is state-of-the-art and might be the best minor league field in the nation. It's out in the general vicinity of Red Rock casino.
Remember this- It gets very hot and everything is farther than it looks. Bring a hat and hydrate. Drink lots of water, especially if mixing in liquor.

A lot of people like Ellis Island, one block east of the strip, behind Bally's. You can walk thru Ballys, and go out the back so you get the benefit of walking half the block inside in AC. They have a cheap steak special, but I usually get their BBQ plate. They make their own beer, and also make a kick-ass rootbeer.

Bob recently posted here

that South Point has decided not to continue with the classes, at least for now. Look for "End of an Era?".

That is a shame. I hit a Royal flush the same day I took my first class. That night, I was dealt a flush that included four to a Royal. Pre-class, I'd have kept the sure payout rather than go for the one in forty-seven shot, but this very situation had been discussed that day in class.
Hopefully, Mr. Dancer finds a casino willing to continue this and this is not a sign that SP is going to do away with their very good VP. When you combined their good paytables with their superior promotions, it was almost like they card about their customers.

Simple math, without any class, should tell you that dumping the flush and going for the royal is the right play. Even when discounting any other paying hand you have a 1 in 47 chance at getting over 133x (assuming the flush pays 30) your money you'd win keeping the flush. This is a no brainer!
