Has anyone here been to the Venetian?

Yes, even seeing him did not ruin my trip. He was a bit shorter than I expected.

Now, had it been George Clooney, I probably would have embarrassed myself

I go to LV annually and I am not a big fan of the Venetian.  Even though I am Italian, I just find it too gaudy and overdone.  Give me a seat at the vp bar in the Flamingo or MGM Grand and I am a happy camper.  Don't forget Monte Carlo and NY-NY.  Off-strip, Rio and the Palms rule. I almost forgot Caesars Palace, which is everything AC tries to be-but isn't.  Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill is a must-try.

Been to the Venetian once, a couple of summers ago.  Was lucky enough to get bumped up to the concierge suites in the new Venezia tower (receptionist was very new and very generous!).  Can't beat Bouchon restaurant, especially for breakfast.  The brioche french toast is amazing!

Dollar vp, especially ddb, seems to pay out well.  Played twice, and won
$400 the first day, and $800 the second day.  Stay away from the slots, though.  Monopoly, I Dream of Jeannie, and Beverly Hillbillies were extremely tight.

I absolutely loved the Venetian.  We stayed in the Venezia suites and the room was emormous, luxurious and wonderful.  The check in process could have been better but that was the only negative I could say.  Everything else was terrific.  Go to the Venezia pool early in the morning...it's like having your own spa.  I would definitely stay there again if I could afford the price of the rooms.  If you find a good deal, stay there. Previously I have stayed at the MGM grand, the Monte Carlo and Excalibur and by far the Venetian is the best.

The first couple of times we went to Vegas, we stayed at MGM and Ballys.  It was okay.  MGM rooms were about three miles (seemed like!) from the casino floor.  They were nice but we spent so little time in the rooms that we felt like we really overpaid.  Ballys was better in price and the rooms weren't that far away from the action.

Then we started staying Downtown and giving Fremont St most of our action (though here lately, we've been spending a significant amount of time in the Locals Casinos.)  I like a clean room, comfortable bet and a shower that works.  If I can get close on meeting three of those requirements,  I'm content.  Afterall, we are in the room pretty much just to sleep and take care of toiletry needs.  And, Downtown is CHEAP compared to Strip prices.

But, it depends on what you are in Vegas for and how much you are willing to pay for a swank room.  Personally, I'd rather save the money for the tables and machines.

We did visit Venetian our last trip out.  Pretty darn fancy place!  Gondala singers, pretty painted ceilings, and lots of diamonds and fancy clothes.  I felt out of place with my straw hat and coveralls .  Not really.  It was very nice.

I stay at the Venetian 3 to 5 times per year. With moderate play they will comp your room, meals, and pick you up in a limo. Very easy to get comps. Between cash back and slot credits in the mail, I will either make money or loose about $800 per trip. Not bad for what I get in return.

The Venetian is one of the best 3 Hotel Casinos in Las Vegas, and soon to be the largest hotel in the world when new tower opens. Its five star with a great motiff. Gondola rides and like Paris clouds on the cielings.  I never gambled there but saw the Cowboys owner Jimmy Johnson playing BlackJack there on a superbowl weekend in 2004....lol. The pools are topnotch...( a friend of mine works one of the pool bars) so I think you'll like it if price is no object.

Jimmy Johnson does not own the cowboys, he was their coach at one time. I think Jerry Jones owns the cowboys.

You are correct about Jerrel Wayne Jones as well as James William Johnson. But with those names and initials you can hardly blame someone for a mix up. Has anyone here seen blazing saddles? Eduardo Johnson is right about OEJohnson being right!

Check out the Venetian in Macau (China) if you want a real treat!  It has a crazy gaming floor easily 3-4 times the size of the current LV version.  There are about 800 gaming tables (yes I said Tables!) and hundreds of slots.

Table games are king in Macau mostly Baccarat and some goofy game with three dice.  Roulette is big too. Only a handful of black jack tables.  Almost all tables the minimum bet is 200RMB (about $25)

It is a crazy, crazy, crazy.  The whole gambling scene in Macau is in deep transition as the old-style Asian casinos, really more like card rooms, dark and dank are being upstaged by the huge Las Vegas mega-resorts like Wynn, Venetian and soon-to-come MGM.

It was here that I encountered first Spin Poker machines.  I think all of the poker machines at Wynn, that I noticed, were this goofy 'Spin' variety.  Now, here in LV it is all the rage!
