How do I get to the Palms

Post by pokerpokerpoker »

Hey gang, I have a Vegas trip coming up and was looking to try out the full pay VP at the Palms. Is there a free shuttle that'll take me there? If I have to take a cab, the boost in EV probably isn't worth the cab fare.

I think I read once there is a shuttle from CP to the Palms, but man, CP is a big place and I get lost in there just trying to find the casino.

It's an easy 10-minute walk along Flamingo --- assuming you're moderately healthy. Leave CP from the exit near Guy Savoy in the Augustus Tower, turn right on Flamingo, and you'll see it.CP may have a shuttle to Rio (I don't know) since that's the same outfit and that will take about half of your walk away from you. A quick call to the Bell desk when you're on property will give you that information. But it's only saving you about 5 minutes of walking --- so waiting 45 minutes for the next shuttle probably isn't a good use of your time

Ok, thanks. Sounds like I will just walk. Ten minutes isn't bad. I was just concerned about having to cross major roads or walking through dicey neighborhoods.

You'll be waking along Flamingo Boulevard --- a major thoroughfare. There are no residential neighborhoods of any kind along that stretch of road. There are sidewalks and signals.Possibly 15 minutes of walking is more accurate. But you'll see your destination as soon as you get out on Flamingo as the Palms Tower is quite tall and quite visible.

Google maps says it's a full mile from the Augustus entrance, and estimates 21 minutes.

And I definitely wouldn't walk it at night. I was creeped out enough during the day. Nothing happened, but we walked by some sketchy looking people From Rio to Bally's. I would rather shuttle from Bally's or Harrah's to Rio and walk from Rio even if it takes more time overall.

We wound taking an Uber. My buddy signed up and we got a freebie.

Didn't work out though. Found the 10/6 DDB and got roasted, as I did on strip playing 9/6. Blew the majority of my trip bankroll in a day and a half - $2200, playing mostly halves and dollars and never hit a single quad 2-4 or aces. Plaza loss rebate is still going - won $200 on the first night and called it quits.

I had high hopes for this trip. I dusted off the Winners Guide, played thousands of practice hands and had my strategy card. But absolutely rotten luck. After getting killed I had to drop down to nickels and quarters.

Highlight of the trip:

This allowed me to keep playing and avoided ATM visits. The Cosmo was awesome, playing at Chandelier Bar. Used HH points and ate at Bacchanal - superb.
