99% of VP decisions are obvious and the ones that aren't typically don't cost the player too much.

really interesting statement. countless hours have been spent on this forum, from those who are math advocates, stating the importance of gaining every hundredth of a percent advantage by playing on the proper machine and playing perfectly.

making the wrong decision, no matter how small, they argue, will have a big impact on one's long term results.
That depends on the game and the level one chooses to play at. If one is strictly a recreational player, I'd say about 95% of hands are obvious in jacks or better, but if you want to play at an advanced level, it gets much smaller. In games like Deuces or the more complicated Bonus games, it's nowhere near that.

Do you play at casino bars?   I figured out awhile ago they often don't have the best pay tables.South Point and E.I. being exceptions.

It is indeed generally the case that the bars do not have the best pay tables. Some of the MGM properties on the strip and the Cosmopolitan are also an exception.

I am not sure if I plan on playing at MGM places again, if I do, it will be at a bar. If I ever get the chance to play at the Cosmopolitan, I will play at a bar.

All others, I will not play at a bar. Probably I will ask for a drink at the end of my play session.

It is just a misinterpretation. It is obvious to the players who have played video poker for many years to have a fundamental understanding of the game. Triple Bonus Plus plays similar to DDB in which 95% is a good amount.

It is not "95%" obvious to most recreational players that never looked into VP with any seriousness.

South Point definitely is, but EI is an exception at the bars? Did they upgrade their paytables? Should have double checked the bartops while I was there? Grrr.   Last I checked the best they had was "Airport Deuces" (98.91%) followed by 7/5 Bonus (98.01%). Is this no longer the case?

All Boyd and Stations off strip have at least 8/5 Bonus (99.17%) at some of their bars, iirc, as well as some downtown bars.

Even more details about the Drink Comp system in place at Caesars Entertainment properties on Vegas strip stated on the vitalvegas dot com blog.

Caesars Entertainment Rolls Out Comp Drink Monitoring System to All Its Las Vegas Resorts

Found this from Seven Stars Insider.

Reading Vman's 15th Vegas trip report, it does not seem that bad. I think I can get comp drinks if I wanted to, but prefer not in order to focus on playing correctly.

It was amazing on how fast they decided to "green light" it so to speak. I got my wish though, TAG waited until at least Sept. 13th...

My favorite bartender already assured me he will make it clear what I need to do to keep the light green when it matters next trip. Likely it means I'll just have to play a bit faster when I actually want a drink, which I am willing to do for limited periods. May have to possibly switch machines to reset the cycle all the way back to the beginning since it triggers green pretty quickly with max betting.

Obviously once encountered with this, my brain was trying to figure out the minimum play necessary so bartenders don't get in trouble...

I see the confusion. When I wrote E.I. I was referring to Emerald Isle in Henderson. I think you are thinking Ellis Island. I live in Henderson.

Ah ok...yeah, I was thinking ellis island. I've been tempted to get out to the Emerald Isle, but never make it out there.

Do you know some of the paytables for the bartops off hand at quarters? Dollars? I maintain a bartop sticky at Vegas Message Board for the best bartop games. Any info would be appreciated.

They don't have quarters. They have one cent, two cent and five cent games. You can play 100 coins per hand, so you play a dollar, two dollars or five dollars per hand. They offer 9-6 JOB at every seat, and NSU Dueces at about six.
They have Bonus and Double Bonus, plus some BonusDueces but I don't know the pay tables as I don't play them.
They have a bank of All American full pay that you can play ten play at $3, $6, or $15 a spin.
Lots of player bonuses. Tuesday play thru $700 and get $10 cash back. You can do this twice a day. Every day has similar bonuses.

Which game pays that? Their slot director told me the All Americans were full pay and the best in town. I know JOB is 9-6 and Dueces is NSUD.
These banks are usually full and most people play Spin Poker, a game I have yet to study so I don't know the payouts.

The pay table for full pay All American Poker, for five credits bet, is:

Royal Flush       4000
Straight Flush    1000
4 of a Kind        200
Full House          40
Flush               40
Straight            40
3 of a Kind        15
2 Pair               5
Pair Jacks or Better 5

If that's not the paytable of the game they have, it's not the full pay version, no matter what the slot director claims.

I'm referring to machines that say All American Poker.
They offer a variety of games- spin poker, job, dudes, bonus and you can play one to ten hands. They also have a bank of machines called All American 2

My mistake, they are All Star and All Star 2 machines. I apologize for the confusion. My error, not the slot guys.
