You are welcome, Alpax.

As far as Cosmo goes, the first visit I played mostly their 8/5 DDB quarters at the bar top and a little 8/5 DDB ULTX on the floor. 460 points were earned which would be about $2700 in action.

They had a lot of new member perks: $5 for signing up and a free Wicked Spoon and $5 for earning 500 points - which I did, but ran out of time for the buffet.

I mostly wanted to play there for cocktails and to generate offers for future trips. To play in such a nice environment is worth a little "strip tax" to me.

Day four

The three of us used up the remaining resort credits at the Mirage breakfast buffet. It was a out as you would expect. Quality was pretty good. At $20, I can't say it is a deal. I can't eat $20 of bacon and eggs. I used my $11 of express comps towards the bill.

After breakfast I headed to the Mlife desk to ask about covering our checkout tab. Off course, they said no. I asked if we could keep the room until 2:00, no again.

Checked out and paid the $94 tab. Dad hit the race book will PC and I wandered through Palazzo and the Venetian. A little bummed that the Palazzo removed the QQ machines.

I normally don't gamble at all on our last day but PC wanted a few drinks so we sat at a nickel VP at Venetian and the cocktail server obliged. I lost $25.

Back to Mirage to get dad and the bags. Shook hands with CP, hailed a Lyft, and that was it.

High B numbers for boarding and we both got aisle seats. Pilot says bad weather in Chicago, so it looks like we are gonna sit a bit.

PPP right now it's storming like crazy and at least one tornado touched down near the LaSalle/Ottawa area. I hope you have a safe flight back.

I heard they rate Jacks or Better with a perfect play theoretical loss, but not sure with the other games.

All VP games at Cosmo are rated this way unfortunately.

Glad to see you got a few nice hits, ppp! Have a safe trip home!

A harrowing flight indeed. About an hour to go pilot turned on the seat belt light and it got extremely bumpy. If you didn't have your belt on you might have been thrown from your seat.

Approaching MDW it must have been too windy because we circled around for a hour before a real bumpy landing. I live somewhat rural and was dodging tree limbs on the way home.

Negative theo? How does that translate into what they offer as far as rooms, ect? Getting free rooms is my main concern.

It is not like I saw much in the way of sporty pay tables there though. Better than just about everything CET offered. Cromwell FP excluded.

Much appreciated for the heads up on how they calculate the theoretical on VP games in general, normally theoretical loss is set higher for players on general casino games. If they take the perfect play theoretical on each video poker machine, it would hurt the player to play anything less than the highest returning variant. (e.g. DDB over Jacks or Better which I've noticed most people would do). Mistakes on holds will also hurt more to those who wing it.

I do not frequent places that utilize the theoretical loss system, but I'll share what I know. Normally bounce back comes in the form of around 30-35% of the amount the player theoretically lost. It does not need to be said to Vegas visitors, but I will mention the obvious anyways, Cosmo is a high end resort on Vegas in line with Caesars Palace, Aria, Wynn/Encore, and Palazzo/Venetian so playing quarters (I know the bankroll was running short) would predictably yield just discounted room rate offers. The rooms cost at least $200 a night without resort fees, so you would have to lose $600 theoretically to get it fully complimentary which is tens of thousnads of VP coin in which is not achievable on single line quarters.

If you are able earn 20,000 Identity Points at $6 coin in per point, you can get into Gold tier. One of those benefits is 2 free nights guaranteed. That is what I was scoping out if I ever can amass such bankroll to play there.

Although they said NO to you, do not be discouraged to ask EVERY time you go to Vegas. It is one of the biggest bargaining chips most Vegas visitors do not utilize, unless they have a casino host to represent them that will remind them of this.

Although it has been preached very hard here to avoid the strip and play at locals to play quality video poker, you just mentioned the reason to play on the Strip.

The quality of life (hotel rooms/restaurants/bars/entertainment) is just much better to appeal to tourists who are looking to spend some time that is more upscale than their every day grind back from where they are from.

For video poker, I would consider the Cosmo, Luxor (for MGM), and Planet Hollywood (for CET) to be a good balance of playability and the comp value you get.

I would put Wynn and Encore on the list until I heard a story where someone got a dealt royal on a 5 play. The security kicked the person out of the property and forced the person to even clear out the hotel room as well.

Glad you made it home despite the severe conditions.

The games at cosmo take into account all variants and gimmicks on every unit.

So playing 9/6 Jacks gets you 0.46% theo and on the same machine playing 9/6 DDB will get you 1.02% theo. Playing 9/6 TDB with Double STP will get you 1.35% theo. But there is no buffers for player errors. Offers generally seem to be in the 35% theo loss ballpark from everything I've read.
