Back in the late 60s, the Union Gap was my favorite band.
I've seemingly been on a quest to see them forever.
They were the best selling music act of 1968, with six straight gold records, but by 1974 had lost their record contract and were playing local nightclubs. I convinced my parents to take me to a show but it was 18 and over and I didn't get in. In 1986, they joined the Monkees on their reunion tour and were a critical success but never got close to NY.
They do hit Vegas every year but this was the first time I was in town for them.
Both shows at the Nugget were advertised as being sold out but the place was about 80% full.
Obviously the hits are what everyone comes for, but fifty years in rock has given Gary some great stories and he is a great storyteller.
His voice has lost a bit, and the shows bog down a bit in the middle, but overall it was a very nice evening. The Nugget is a very nice showroom. It's where Sinatra held court for years and ,unlike many places, drinks are very reasonable. Domestic beer, soda and bottled water being $5 each.
Gary and the band perform 180 days a year. If you get a chance, it is well worth buying a ticket.

I enjoyed their music, too, BR. There were SO many great Pop Hits back then!! I loved them all. :)

Lady willpower, it’s now or never
Give your love to me.

My music generation was the 60s and yes I am getting old. The casinos that have sprung up all over the country have been a perfect place for all the old groups to play. I have seen many but the monkeys disappointed me. They miss Davey Jones.

One of the many perks to living here is being eligible for fantastic free show tickets through companies like Seatfilla and House Seats. They'd rather fill the seats with locals than have Joe Tourist go home and tell everyone he paid $300 for a show and had empty seats all around. For about $100 a year, you get access to dozens of shows every day. I generally hit two or three shows a week.

It's called the Union Gap Band but it has none of the 1960s members. For a three piece backup, they were pretty tight.
