Great article and pictures Jim, My business is traffic engineering. Back in the early 90's the Taj Mahal hired us to look at their parking deck and figure out what was wrong. It took 2 hours to empty the garage after a show in the Etess arena, which held about 6,500 people if I remember. My partner and I went down one Saturday night and saw what the problem was right away. The 12 story garage had internal ramps that required all cars to back out into the ramp in order to leave the garage. So if you were on one of the upper floors, it took you about 2 hours to get out of the garage. It was eventually fixed, but it was incredible how that was overlooked in the rush to get the casino open. That's why Caesars has the helix on the outside of their garage.

thanks for the pics. brought back memories. i used to go there every month, even though i was not a fan of trump, in the mid 2000's. place was always packed and they treated us right. wife and i would take charter flight, no cost for air, rooms, food and we got free play and comp dollars. wife did not gamble and i played quarter VP. i would typically lose $300-700, sometimes win, but it was a great deal. a weekend away for a couple of hundred bucks.

then came 2008 and everything changed and it was all for the worse. the economy stunk, folks had little discretionary money to lose at a casino and AC had not improved it's surroundings. AC nose dived.

but, it was fun while it lasted. the best overall bargain for every casino dollar wagered i have ever had.

What a shocking life for its proprietor. Gov. Florio must be dumbfounded on a daily basis!

People used to tell me I looked like Jim Florio. He wasn't my favorite politician and he had a broken nose from his days as an amateur boxer in the service. I don't know what bothered me more, the nose or the political views.
