two of the four time i ate at roberts were after one of those "COMP Multiplier festivals of Greed" they love to promote towards the end of each fiscal quarter!

In the Revel thread you comment that other AC casinos don't offer promotions of value... yet, a 5/7/10X comp dollar multiplier (where even a piker who'd only earn $20 in comp in a visit would get enough at 5X to make a decent dent in a gourmet meal) you deride as a "festival of Greed"?

I don't think there's many better promotions in the City, especially not on a regular basis -- the Taj has 3-4 of these days every month, always on a weekday, and the past few months have been running a 5X comp dollar Friday once a month, too.

I have been going to the Taj for about 15 years, Signature for about 5 years and I did the 10x comp day. I was lucky that it was a day that I did VERY well gambling so I was able to recycle cash and still be a winner and I accrued an additional 1300 comp dolars!

Well there is one irrefutable truth when it comes to steaks, there is nothing quite like a home cooked steak on a nice summer evening (temp in the 70s), when you can leisurely cook and nurture the meat on the grill just the way you like it, and then pair up your perfectly cooked piece of cow with an ice cold Michelob.....that's priceless. Last week in AC I avoided any steak houses simply because the weather was wayyyy too nice to not be out enjoying the end of summer boardwalk fare and atmosphere.  Getting stuffed in a steakhouse does not mix with Summer fun at the beach!   But I did have a gallgahers burger at the burger bar and because they grind their own fresh every week it is quite simply my favorite burger.....if only AC had a section of the beach cordoned off for people who want to have a cookout right on the water.....

If they could turn a profit on it, they would do it...

Ask anyone who grew up around the Chicago Stockyards or Kansas City and you will find out that the best steaks come from steer or heifers. Cows are better for hamburgers though. DaBruglar I thought you would have known this for sure with all of the knowledge you have about good steaks in Atlantic City and elsewhere.

well i'm not from KC or Chicago, but thanks for correcting me, although I typed what I typed mainly in jest and fun, as the tone was obviously being silly.   Nonetehless I never used the terms steer or heifer, but I will now.

I envy you jim! I never have been able to successfully cook ears of corn on an open grill, my tinfoil always seems to incinerate or else it never gets hot enough to cook the corn.    That's assuming I can find enough tinfoil leftover from making all my tinfoil hats, har har yuk yuk gigglesnort!

Some people who cook corn on the grill do it this way. They soak the corn in water for a period of time ( which I don`t ) then they wrap the corn in tin foil. Then put it on the grill. I prefer to cook corn on the stove in a large pot of water. Cook the steaks onthe grill.

Don't boil your Jersey Silver Queen corn, you take a lot of the sweetness out of it... either (a) steam it, on a steamer rack over boiling water, or (b) grill it.   Grilling it, I find it works best to wrap the ears individually in foil with butter, salt, and pepper, then grill them turning often over low heat for about 10 minutes.   If you want grill marks, however, you need to coat them with olive oil or clarified butter, and then put them (without foil) over indirect heat for 5-6 min then finish them over direct heat for 1-2 minutes to develop your grill marks.

EDIT: Make sure you use the good extra-heavy Reynolds Wrap. Using cheap tin foil (whether for hats or for grilling) will result in tinfoil burn-through.   But if you're burning your tin foil, you've got your corn (or hat) too close to the heat.

We grill the corn in the husk. Never did it or heard of it until I met my wife. Corn comes out great all the time. Use an outdoor grill (lol).
