Here is the single most important portion of that article:" McDevitt said that
even if the union agreed to those concessions, they would only total $11
million per year, which would hardly make a difference in the company's
finances. "If our members were to work for
minimum wage with no benefits, it wouldn't be enough to keep this
property in the hands of its current owners for a year," he said. The concessions would be on top of a separate $4 million round of union concessions the company won in 2011. " I mean, that pretty much closes the case here does it not????    Game's over.......And, In typically inept, clueless fashion,  "management"  (if you can call it that) of Trump attempts to shift the blame for its FOURTH (4th!!!!)  CHAPTER 11 filing since it was founded onto the shoulders of the Union by making it seem that it is the UNION dragging it down.....what a total crock of sheeeeiite!     In a public setting like a press conference / board meeting,  I would love......LOVE...... to ask the top executives/management team at the TAJ if they are willing to forgo all compensation except basic salary (i.e. bonuses, commissionso, etc.) for the next year to help keep the company afloat and help possibly right the ship.    Put these clueless idiots right on the spotI fully expect this property to shutter on (or before) November 13, as NOTHING will change or befall the Taj in a positive sense that will alter or change its current path and prognosis.    The only reason we were not hearing more about this before is due to the OTHER casinos' collective fiascoes !!!     But this will spell the tipping point, I believe, for the rest of AC (the city itself) to be forced into bankruptcy and possibly even  receivership.....it is quite possible someone (either the state of New Jersey or even The Federal Government) will have to step up and assist with the short term running and paying the city's operational obligations starting in early 2105, since the combined weight of lost Tax revenue (both gambling  AND PROPERTY), all the UNEMPLOYED masses of workers flooding the South Jersey market, unable to work and sustain their lives (pay their bills and taxes) while simultaneously burdening city and local resources, will drag the city down. This will in turn negatively impact the remaining healthy casinos, as it drives away a lot of people who do not want to visit anymore such a negative and dreary locations....I mean think about this:    The very fact that it was allowed to progress to such a LOW, horrible state of affairs says a lot about the cluelessness and ineptitude of the people in charge, at all levels (state, city and the casinos management/ownership).     The casino/gaming business is all about FUN...entertaining, upbeat atmospheres are ESSENTIAL to success.    Everyone knows this!       Which is why this is all so horribly mind-boggling.    This will permanently scar and handicap the AC market for a long time to come.....I mean, anyone out there NOW in a hurry to visit AC and see (whats left) its casinos????    Forget it......

I am still planning to be there next month, DB, and I hope you will be there too. [/QUOTE]you better believe it, I am already laying out my plans to unload all the Trump-Taj comps I have been accumulating these past 5-6 months since that property became my primary "Stay and play" casino with the closures of the AC club, Showboat and now Trump Plaza.....The TAJ started sending me all kinds of freebies at the beginning of this year, and what was great about it was I could VERY easily book my free rooms ONLINE via their website.   Other AC favorite locations for me to STAY (i.e. the ones who consistently offer free rooms each month) like Resorts, Tropicana and Golden Nugget do not make it possible to book comp rooms online.....you must CALL an actual person and do it that way.....So yes, I am still on for October, in Fact I am putting together a string of days so that it might be my longest consecutive stay in AC EVER.    Right now I am booked October 3 through October 13, with 2 and 3 night bookings at the Taj, Resorts and Ballys so far....I may expand it out even further before the time comes......When (and how) exactly are you getting into AC Billyjoe and when (and how) are you leaving for the cruise?     As it stands right now I will be at the TAJ on October 11 but obviously I will be making my way over to Harrahs if that's what it takes, or if you can enlighten me with more specifics, we can arrange to meet somewhere else, perhaps on the Boardwalk at Caesars or the Taj itself.

I arrive AC on Oct 3rd, but coming in from Philly, and arriving late that day. Staying at Harrahs Marina that night. The next morning, early, they are taking us all over to the NYC cruise terminal. I think that day I will just arrive, sleep, and leave the next morning.

On Nov 11th, we dock early in NYC, and they take us back to Harrahs Marina in the late morning. That evening, I am meeting my host at Caesars for dinner, and then seeing the Reba show at Caesars.

So, my window of opportunity would be between say lunch time and dinner time on Nov 11th. Either Harrahs or Caesars will work for me. Make it easy on yourself, and tell me what works for you - either are fine.

Hi Billyjoe,

Just a word of caution, when staying at Harrah's AC, request the Waterfront Tower Suites which are the newest and best-kept rooms they have.

The Harrah's Harbor and Marina Deluxe rooms are in terrible shape. The Bayview Premium rooms are passable, but barely.

Enjoy your trip,

I agree with Doris, the Bayview rooms are good, but you are also correct, the WATERFRONT(s) are the BEST!Hey Billyjoe, I assume it is just a TYPO, but you wrote "NOV 11"  twice in your last reply/post regarding when you will  <return> from your Cruise......I kinda doubt you will be taking a 38 day cruise, but.......Here is what I will do.....I myself will be in AC BY the afternoon of Friday, October 3, and I will make it a point to journey over to Harrah's for dinner and afterwards......I have personal reasons/interest to attend to at Harrahs when I arrive in AC such as their Poker room details/schedule, and I will want to play a little in their casino when I arrive, since Fridays are always really interesting at Harrahs.   My Mom may be with me when I arrive on October 3 and she likes Harrahs so that is another reason (she only stays a couple days when she visits, so before I see her off back home on October 5 or6, she will want to spend as much time as  possible at Harrahs.)      That all being said, when I get there on October 3, you can just pop down for a few minutes (or longer if you are not too tired) just to introduce ourselves, and solidify plans/arrangements for when you return October 11.....if need be, if we cannot meet AT all on October 3, I will even pop over to Harrahs VERY early October 4 and meet you for a quick coffee before you depart for your cruise (they have a GREAT coffee shop in HARRAHs, Tazzo!)    I am an early riser anyway, and besides, it seems silly not to at least make the introduction while we have the chance, because you never know!   Your ship might get delayed out to sea due to weather, or Pirates, or a giant Squid!  lol    And I might get so discouraged or clobbered while you are out to sea that I am not there when you return!    I doubt that, but staranger things have happened!...OR....if you are in the mood and have the time and strength, we can hang out, eat something  and/or  spend some time looking for Roveer in HArrahs, or Jimdeuces at Borgata!    Just thinking out loud, we will keep talking/POSTING here  between now and October 1......ANYONE else out there (including jimdeuces and roveer especially, but also anyone else) planning on being in AC either October 3 or October 11, give a shout/post here!

I'll be at Caesars on 10/5. Sunday Brunch @ Nero's, then open for a visit.
