I was in AC at Caesars last Thursday through Sunday and didn't do much in VP or slots. What I did see Saturday night was something I have never seen in any casino anywhere.

There was this guy, no older than 30, in the poker section where the progressives are that was playing VP.
He had charge of 4 GameKing $5 machines ($25 a hand) in a row that allow you to double up any wins. He put $100 in each machine, one after the other, and then hit deal on each one in a row. Some machines he plays Deuces, DD, whatever. He starts back at the first machine and draws and if it hit something he doubled up and continued to double up until either he lost the whole thing or hit enough for a hand pay. Then on to the next machine and do all over again. He was so lightning fast, I couldn't keep up with his play from machine to machine. Numerous times all four machines were blinking jackpot of probably $2,400 or more. Over and over this happened. Meantime he was losing untold hundreds of dollars in the double up process. I can't imagine in the end he won anything and still has to pay taxes on all the WGs he kept getting. In one lull period waiting for payouts, I went over to him and said you are one crazy dude. He just laughed and said it was a hobby. It was amazing to watch.

That reminds me a time in Tunica when a guy was playing $1 ddb and got 4 aces with the kicker and asked me if he should double down. I said hell no, but he did it anyway and got it, lol.

Amazing stories. So grateful that the double up option is not available on my quarter JOB. That was the last thing I wanted to see after my Sat RF. What's the point of DU on $1,000 win? Even if you do win, net is circa $1,100 after the W2!

USA today just reported someone hit over $900k on a slot machine at the vegas airport.

He was so lightning fast, I couldn't keep up with his play from machine to machine.I've watched players who have gamed at such a fast pace myself.  I've often wondered how it could possibly be enjoyable; and felt there had to be such an addiction, it's pretty sad.  Unless you see them win a bundle.  lol  j/k (kinda)

If you break even and keep records to prove what you put in, you don't pay taxes.  Gambling losses are deductible to the extent of winnings, and therefore, the breakeven comes through no matter how many W2G's you get. You only pay taxes on profit, not on the W2G itself.  The only issue is that lots of W2G's can artificially inflate your AGI, and thus can push you out of certain deductions and credits, costing you more money overall in taxes.  But if you spent $1,000,000 in a casino and won $1,000,000, your net gain is $0, and so no taxes, because no income.

Interesting tax info. This would probably be this player's best case scenario then. From the sound of it, he wasn't too meticulous about record keeping, however!

I've seen that guy at Caesars a few times. He pounds so hard on the machines he smashed one of the glass screens.
