Showboat plans to reopen now in deep trouble

I have not heard anything formal, but a few people I know in AC have stated that the recent plans to reopen the SHOWBOAT as strictly a HOTEL ONLY property are now in trouble with the TAJ going down.......there was hope that the two properties would HELP each other as the residents of the new Showboat HOTEL would literally be able to walk through the connecting adjacent tunnels and emerge in the TAJ casino......both properties stood to GAIN, and no doubt this was a CENTRAL piece of the Showboat Strategy to reopen as a HOTEL only property!Unreal, this city just cannot do anything to help itself.....

I think their rates showed too high,but I'm sure this doesn't help.There are other hotels and timeshare properties on the boardwalk, so maybe they'll be ok. Like I mentioned, prices are high, and my opinion is they need people to get used to staying there again, getting the word out about them, and should offer introductory rates. If they can give federal employees a $99 rate, they can give it to many.

Can't win for losing. There goes the synergy! Rearranging deck chairs on the Showboat yet again.

It could work out for showboat. If they can void the caesars deed restriction , they could start up a smaller casino area .

@boobert

That would be nice. People might be disappointed if the casino reopened just because the casino had older machines which tend to take less money than the newer ones.

The place was so dead that a quad was almost as rare as Hailey's Comet. Strictly from a gambling perspective, it was cursed.

Yes, they need to rethink this deal...with the TAJ gone, and the fact that showboat WAS a profitable casino before it shuttered, there definitely is a place for a small dynamic casino at that portion of the Boardwalk!

LIke Frankenstein's monster, we would all love to see Showboat come back to life and its former glory. But that was science fiction. CET executives are equally irrational.
