Is Borgata getting desperate??

Post by DaBurglar »

I have not played a single hand of video poker in Borgata in quite a long time (almost a year....However I HAVE played LIVE poker (both cash games and tournaments) at Borgie's several times in the past year....Despite my total lack of interest in their VP machines, The Borgie still sends me each month (for at least the past 6 months)  FREE SLOT Play valued at 50 bucks .... per WEEK (or 4 times a month)!   Keep in mind I was strictly a 25 cent denom player too in the past when I did bother to play VP at Borgie....not exactly lighting it up as a high roller. This is the first and only casino in my own personal experience that would send me 50 bucks in free slot play MULTIPLE times a month, FOR MANY MONTHS in a ROW, despite me never playing their games their.    Its not uncommon to get such an offer ONE time during ONE month, when you have been absent from a particular casino for many many months.....but this is kinda weird, and smacks of desperation

Word from other locals, not the same since MGM took over. Latest complaint has been rearranged smoking area pissed a lot of regulars off. As far as offers, it seems the longer you stay away the better the offers get. This isn’t unique to Borgata but all of AC.

That is pretty shocking. The live and tournament poker must really carry weight now. I'll stay away until next year; also abstaining. But if I ever get that FP, call me Prodigal Son.

Hmm I didn't know that...the part about MGM messing things up on a general scale! It doesn't bode well for MGM Springfield (MA) set to open in ten months...

MGM kinda seems like one of those big huge conglomerate corporations that loses control of itself every now and then, such that quality of product and service becomes hit or miss, and every 2-3 years there is something new introduced as kind of a " reboot" for the company. Then they sell off a piece, build a new one and so on....rinse, repeat etc

As a black label customer, I used to get $ 50 free play offers all the time. MGM gave me the equivalent tier card. All free play offers are now $5, not $50, but this happened before MGM bought out Boyd, so MGM just continued what was happening. Wish Harrah's would put a few more good VP games in and I'd play there.

I play the 9/6 JOB and the 9/5 Super Double Bonus at Borgata. Last time I checked, Harrah's had 9/6 JOB for dollars in Diamond Cove, but it was a smoking area, so I didn't last long.

Car 9/6 is also available in section DD which is right next to the QQs machines in the non smoking VP section. They are $1 machines but have a 50:1 count down to earn 1 tier credit. Normal VP is 10:1 count down.

If you get lucky enough to catch a big bonus multiplier on the days they have their 3X - 100X promotion, you could conceivably play on the machines with the great paytables, as the 50:1 condition becomes more normalized and thus you could try to make some actual money.

Just a thought...
