I’m in the same boat, it seems simple but could someone please explain the money line in an even more simplistic way. Thanks in advance.

Moneyline betting is simply a customer betting straight up, no point spread involved, who will win any given game or contest. However, the casinos structure the moneyline bet payout to compensate for the fact there is no point spread for them to manipulate. Example:

A football game between the heavily favored Patriots and the underdog Bills features a moneyline that reads

Patriots -220
Bills    +130

This means that a customer must bet 220 bucks to win 100 on the Pats, and a 100 dollar bet on the Bills wins 130...the difference in payouts takes into account the fact one team is considered superior to another. This applies to any sport where moneyline is used to bet...if two teams are considered very similar or equal, then you will see moneyline very close to Even or with only slight differences.

As is the case with all types of casino betting, however, the casino always deducts its fee, or "vig" (I hate that term or word!)

I hope this clears things up a bit.

I read today that Caesars opened a sports book in Atlantic City and they're getting ready to soon open another tomorrow.

The article also mentioned that MGM Resorts has reached an agreement with Boyd Gaming that will open markets for both of them to offer sports betting and online wagering in 15 states where they operate casino-resorts. States specifically mentioned were: Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, and Louisiana. They said the other locations were pending upon closure of planned casino purchases.

I heard Harrah's AC. In any event, this is a vice to shun. I'd rather squander my money while being the participant player, not a hapless armchair observer.

In DB's example, the Patriots gambler would receive $320 upon their triumph, correct? Asking for a friend!

Yes, your original bet ($220) is returned with your winnings.
In Nevada, and especially on line, with so many different places offering different odds, it is sometimes possible to sometimes find lines at two places that give you a guaranteed win. It's a lot of work finding these games but very rewarding when you do. Having teammates makes it much easier to accomplish.

I'm all for sports betting. The lounges are such comfortable hang outs. No wager required! Thanks, AC.
