RIP - "Hammerin Hank"
RIP Hammerin Hank, something MOST of us here can agree with.
I remember watching it live when he broke the Babe's record. Hammerin Hank, nothing synthetic or artificial about him.-

My hero growing up Ted as well as my Great Grandfathers. We knew when he came up to bat, if we were rooting for the other team, we were in big trouble. We admired him as a person and his ability to achieve in spite of unbelievable attempts on the way to stifle his career. We didn’t know a lot about his personal life but we did really admire the way he handled himself. I guess you knew this Ted. Early on, he made his own bats out of tree limbs

Yeah olds, Billy Williams was on NLB channel last night telling some pretty good stories about him and Hank (along with some other major leaguers) growing up in Mobile Alabama.
