In January, Publix gave $100,000 to the Friends of Ron DeSantis PAC
The heir to the Publix chain also gave $300,000 to the Stop the Steal Rally that turned into an attack on our Capitol and Congress.
This week, DeSantis rejected FEMA's help in setting up vaccine sites and appointments, decided to bypass his state and local health departments, and announced that Publix would be the exclusive distributor of the vaccine in Palm County. Never mind that the 60 or so Publix stores don't cater to the lower-income and rural parts of the county.
Again this week, DeSantis posed for a photo op with a man he claimed was the one-millionth person to get vaccinated, even though his own health department says only a bit over 800,000 vaccines have actually been vaccinated.
After DeSantis went on tv once again to claim everything was going smoothly and all they need is more vaccines, FEMA pointed out that the State has only used about half of the vaccines given to it.
Desantis then claimed that he was holding back half the shots for the second dose, only he had issued an order telling hospitals that any who withheld vaccines for a second dose would be cut off.
As deaths head towards 26,000, it has been almost ten weeks since the vaccine rollout and still, there is no effective way for Seniors to register for their vaccine appointments. Not that anyone should be surprised, the DeSantis Covid unemployment website is six months old and about as effective as teats on a bull.
But lets discuss how LAPD officers are overpaid.
