I was saddened to today to hear that Tony has Alzheimer’s and according to his family has had it since 2016. I hope he can fare well the best he can with it. About ten years ago, I took my dad to his concert and we got to talk to him a bit before the show. My dad was in the big bands and they talked a moment about the big bands and Swing music. My friend who was head concierge at Mohegan at the time knows him very well. She is Sicilian so of course they conversed in Italian. A true Gentleman and very polite. We also got to meet and speak with Les Brown at one of his last performances at Mohegan. My dad knew him from back in the 1940s in the heyday of the big bands.

I too; wish Tony Bennett the best but Alzheimer's is a tough way to go. As for the Big Bands, my 21 year old niece will occasionally play some Benny Goodman on her licorice stick. Not many her age get into that music.

I wish him and his family well. If they are making it public, I imagine the end is near.

My dad says Benny Goodman produced the clearest tones that to this day cannot be duplicated. My dad played tenor sax and clarinet both. Goodman was very tough to work for however.
As of now, Tony knows his family. Lady Gaga and he are best friends and she checks on him constantly. They have an album coming out soon. Luckily, he has a devoted wife who is nearly 40 years his junior. His music helps him keep going.

my mother died from alzheimers. had 7 kids, didn't know any of us. really terrible way to (not) live. alzheimers association was very helpful.

to all family caregivers, for all kinds of illnesses, you are wonderful people.

The tale of their romance will make an outstanding movie.

Yes quite an interesting story when Tony Bennett Met his wife’s Susan‘s parents she was pregnant with Susan. There is a lot on the Internet about what followed I forget what say I was reading it on but they saw each other a long time like 20 years before they married their first date was when Susan was 19 or 20 when Susan met Tony backstage either before or after a performance And he asked her if she would be his date for the evening

Notes...I don’t know about the wonderful people part but I was caregiver for my mom and am now for my dad even though dad is in assisted-living everything else that goes along with it makes it a full-time job. and I don’t Regret it one bit. That is why most of the time I do go to the casino it is in the overnight hours when things are all set with my dad in assisted-living and the aides are with him. They both started with very serious illnesses when I was only 17 and over their lifetimes there have been many close calls. My dad as you folks know is a World War II vet 96 years young.

olds, i remember your parents history. although you weren't seeking it, i had commented a couple of times about your selfless dedication to your parents.

i am not talking about paid caregivers, although most are good folks, they do get paid, for their chosen career. i was mainly talking about those volunteer and/or family members who sometimes give up their lives, just after raising their own kids to take care of the elderly. my oldest sister (the best person i ever met), was one of those who gave up part of her life to take care of my mother, until it was no longer physically possible. these folks are truly wonderful.
