I didn't go to Yale. NJIT, beautiful downtown Newark NJ. Great school for the money though.

NJIT is now a Division 1 school as far as basketball goes. I'd never have heard of it except for that fact.

Been to Newark once. I had to give a deposition in the 1980s work related and was driving around in the Federal Courthouse garage looking for a parking spot with no luck. I didn’t really want to park on the street. A very nice Federal Judge backing out of his assigned parking spot saw me and said.....I’m done for the day and you are welcome to park in my spot. Wow! Will always remember that. Of course I thanked him several times. I am sure he noticed the Ct plates on the car. I know we got off topic here. Rush’s phrase drive by media still rings true to me. Really miss him

I wouldn't worry about missing him. I'm sure his estate will find many many ways to keep him in the public eye.
I'm just not so sure his dialogs age very well.

I'd like to say something nice about Newark but the only thing I have is that Newark Airport is the most convenient place to fly into if staying in Manhattan.
About twenty years ago, my family was having a reunion to celebrate 100 years in America.
My cousins flew in from California and it was their first time in NYC.
In order to save $25 a person( two adults, two kids) they flew into Newark where I picked them up on a Friday at about 4PM. Two and a half hours later, we drive past JFK where I show them how for that $100 more they could have flown into.

Newark has always had a bad rep and well deserved. When I was in college, I drove a 1963 Dodge Dart to school, parked on the street and left the windows and doors open. take what you want, just don't break my window. The state has pumped a lot of money into the City and some things have gotten better. I still have to go there for meetings every now and then and see the new buildings, college expansions etc .I'm a republican, but I like the mayor Ras Baraka, seems like a decent guy with his heart in the right place.

I had a 63 Plymouth valiant for awhile that I bought from a neighbor that was going to junk it. That slant six engine ran like a top and I never spent a dime on it except for oil and filters. That was in 1970. I had just graduated UCONN and no job yet. A few weeks later I got a job and gave the Valiant to a neighbor of my parents whose husband had just passed away from war injuries he never really recovered from. I pulled out the dents and did a quick paint job on it before I gave it to her. She had little kids too. I know 3 years later she was still driving it. I lost track after that. I just remember those darts and Valliants would run forever. Especially the ones from the early and mid 60s.
