The USofA and Mexico have 1900 miles of common border.
Trump promised to build a beautiful wall from border to border.
Trump also promised Mexico would pay for it and then said the wall would pay for itself.
Trump built a total of 52 miles of new wall, at a cost of 46 million dollars per mile.
In preparation for his big beautiful wall, Trump had contractors rip apart hundreds of miles of storm surge protection that the wall would have made redundant. Now the wall won't be built and billions need to be spent to replace the old storm levies.
In Arizona, the project asked permission to move the wall a half-mile in, as the border was simply too rugged to bring equipment in to build. Nope, the powers that be insisted the wall be built within yards of the border so they literally decided to rip off the top of the mountains to flatten them enough to build the big beautiful wall.
Several hundred million dollars later, the formerly impassable mountains have been leveled but of course, no wall is being built so an area no sane person would try to navigate is becoming a magnet for border crossers.
The border area used to be hard to get to. When I moved here, the roads from Highway 80 to the border were mostly dirt, as they were only used by the handful of homeowners and ranchers, but in building the big beautiful wall, they needed to build roads to handle the trucks bringing in supplies and heavy equipment., so now we have virtual four-lane highways in the middle of nowhere that go from the sparsely traveled Route 80 to the border. Arizona wants to give these roads to the local counties to maintain but the counties don't want them as they are broke and can't afford them.
Our tax dollars working hard, as usual.
On the bright side, the two billion dollars that trump stole from the Pentagon is being sent back to it.
