I have to add this to my little story about the coins I found above. I guess most know by now I lost my dad in March of this year. His big Buick has been sitting a while now and it needs a new battery anyway. A couple of days ago I watched a YouTube video on how to access it and do the job because it is a bit unusual. You have to take out the back seat cushion and the battery is under there and you have to be careful with these things called vent tubes etc. Anyway when I pull the seat cushion right next to the battery still on a little piece of carpet was a shiny new dime and right next to that was a brand new hearing aid battery still with the seal on it. No doubt the battery was my moms. She passed away in 2016. When I picked the Dime up And like I said it looks like it was uncirculated I looked at the date and it was 2016. My mom hadn’t been in the car since at least 2014 and I can’t remember anyone riding in the back seat of that buick in some years before that. If I went anywhere with my dad, I always drove and he rode up front.

For some reason I always loved to find a dime on the floor than any other coin, maybe because its the smallest . not sure why !

Same here. I also loved to get a Liberty Standing Quarter in change that wasn’t worn. Most were quite worn out in the 1950s. The dime was huge though as a kid. It bought a good size bag of penny candy. I always looked to see if it was a 1916 D Mercury Dime. I did finally find one, but almost completely worn out.

I agree about finding a dime. Growing up a dime bought a great slice of Pizza, Ice Cream pop, and a local call from a pay phone.

We used to check the phone booths sometimes to see if someone forgot their dime in the coin trturn slot. Sometimes we would get lucky.

This is one of the best candid shots my sister ever took. The two of them were just watching my sister take out the trash. I’m sure they were both thinking, I bet there’s some really good stuff in there that we could eat. He he he he.
