Of course. But a year is a fairly arbitrary measure for returns (other than for tax purposes). Still, it's probably one that most people track in some way. Some people play several hours a day all year, others only play a few times a year. How much you played in the year would impact how often you might have a losing year. And of course there are many other factors as well, such as skill, available offers, available pay tables etc etc.

The higher the theo adv is along with larger sample size the less likely for a long losing to occur , known as the law of large numbers ! Kelly criterion is a good tool in evaluations of b roll requirements !!

my casino is certainly tampering with my reward system. still ahead for the year but not sure for how long and my new game tdb just seems more like the trading of the bankrolls instead of a grind.

If TDB is your new flavor, get ready for even worse spells of losing (and hopefully the highs that make up for it). You will find much more stable results with a less volatile game. TDB is too crazy for my blood, except in very short sessions where I'd like to take a shot at a big win, but my expectations are always to bust. So not much coin-in on that game.

When there were positive plays in AC, back in the late 90's and early-mid 2000's (and I'm sure before then, although I didn't know), I had a run of 8 positive years out of 10. I'm not an AP, but consider myself a knowledgeable player. Since then, a 50/50 proposition, maybe a little less. Still have 99.5% plus games plus promotions, cashback etc, so can get close to 100%

I play about 2 m hands a year and haven’t had a positive year ever. So far, this year is the closest I have come. Causes are besides bad luck, machines that aren’t maintained, downgraded pay tables, playing less than 99 percent games and cutbacks of comp and rewards offers by casinos in General. You really have to look hard to come up with an advantage nowadays and if your strategy and play is off, forget it.

As a (mostly) TDB player, I agree with your "trading bankroll" statement.

I only play a couple of times a month for a short session and my goal is to walk on with a stack of hundos, and to leave with a huge stack of hundos, or nothing. Generally, I leave with nothing. But sometimes.....

But, the way I see it, I'm not going to play enough to generate any meaningful comps or mail, and games like Bonus or Jacks just seem to slowly grind you down to zero. TDB, on the other hand, has multiple ways to double or even quadruple a session BR - without waiting out a royal.

I don't mind "trading swats" with the casino, but many times I've stacked up a $5k - $10k losing streak. Or, I've had some $5k -10k hot streaks too.
