Welcome newbie. The only thing I can recommend is to become a gold member and use the training mode to check your skills you may be mildly surprised as I was. It is made me a much better player not only on the site but also at the casino but more than anything good luck and have some fun !

Be patient for the big payout hands, especially a Royal Flush or a Straight Flush. I used to miss out on Straight Flushes by not holding three cards to a Straight Flush.
I love Video Poker.com and I play every day.

Welcome to the site.
A couple of quick suggestions:
1) Pick a couple of games and master them 99-100% correct play.
2) I prefer low volatility game like Deuces Wild, Bonus, Jacks versus DDB,TDB so I can stay in the game until the big hand comes. But, each to their own.
3) I'd recommend you not play the extra coin games (Super Times Play, etc.) until you master the basic games. The extra 1/4% is sometimes very costly with out a huge bank roll if you aren't 100% master of the game.
4) learn everything you can about how casinos operate in the area of free play, tiers, cash back, drawings, etc. Then determine a strategy to maximize your comps, free play, i.e. if you have a partner both of you play on one account to double the points accumulated instead of individually. Thus increasing your comps. Achieve the TIER level you want then help your partner achieve their desired level. Sometimes having one person at the high TIER level provides better comps-rooms, food, etc.
5) Learn when the official day ends/begins. Usually like 2, 3 , 4, or 5 am. Don't play past that time or you'll reduce you average daily play which hurts your free play. if you have to play on the next day and it will probably be a short play day - play on a friends cards or no card. We usually carry sets of our kids or grandkids cards on short days to give them regular play. Sometimes this can give you extra weekly free play as well.
6) Be positive and only spend what you've allocated for Gambling Entertainment. We have our "401G" account which we set aside monthly for play.
7) Win and enjoy and take advantage of your perks.

good luck,

LL
