I was there Friday after midnight (actually Saturday morning) and played a $2 single line machine (the multi lines are locked up by a team.) It played quite fast. There were fewer $2 machines than the day before. I guess that when a player got up from those machines, they were downgraded to $1. There were still LOTS of them 24 hours ago.

You get no slot club benefits from the game. To get free parking you need to play $25 through a slot machine (or park somewhere else and walk).

At 1,000 hph (very possible on these machines), the $1 single-line game is worth $38 per hour. There are not a lot of non-progressive single-line dollar games elsewhere returning that much. The bankroll requirements are not huge. This is a decent play for dollar players.

It probably won't last long --- so if you're going to get your share, you better get it pretty quickly.

I'm not sure why Downtown Grand even did this in the first place. Did none of the higher-ups know that offering FPDW for anything other than 25c was going to get hammered and they'd lose a lot of money?

Or were they trying to attract publicity or something? I kinda doubt that since most gamblers aren't even aware of what fpdw is, much less the correct strategy.

This whole experiment just has me confused.

As of today, Monday, they are down to 8 $1 FPDW games. The other 30 or so machines that used to have $1 or $2 FPDW on them are 15-11-4-4-3. This is a 99.957% game, but there are no slot club points or benefits so it's unplayable. On the same machine are $1 10/7 DB and 10/6 DDB. These are slightly higher than 100%, but still unplayable IMO because the return is minuscule compared to what you can find elsewhere. If they decide to keep these games and make video poker eligible for slot club points, it's possible they will be worth a play. (The two locked-up-by-a-team multi-line games are still there, but the highest you can play now is 25c Ten Play or $1 Triple Play. Formerly these machines went up to $2 Ten Play --- I would have very much liked to have a shot at that.)

I was there from noon to about 5 o'clock today. I saw none of the non-FPDW machines played at all. Even if they were played, the casino wouldn't be making any money on a 99.957% game.

There are rumors that the property is up for sale and they wanted to drive up coin-in. They definitely succeeded at that, but it must have been very expensive for them. Players didn't use their card, so the casino has no record of who played (other than W2Gs on royals or $2 deuces).

In Vegas, FPDW is well known by everybody who ever played quarters here. They would have to refresh themselves on the strategy if they haven't played for years (or decades), but the strategy is really easy and it's not hard to get up to speed. In my case, I looked at the problem sets in the Winner's Guide and in 10 minutes went over all hands that could give me trouble and so was able to play at the 99.9%+ accuracy level. I wasn't starting from scratch. I played it for years, taught the class maybe 30 times, and "wrote the book." My memory isn't what it used to be, but it's not terrible.

The "up for sale" option is the first semi logical reason ive heard to bother to do this. But you think perspective buyers would pay more attention to revenue than coin-in.

not a surprise.

It's a 99.95% or 100.06% game, depending on 200 or 250 for straight flush. Do they give you slot club points for playing it? If not, it's just an even game which is a waste of time if money-making is your goal
