Full Pay Joker at Ocean Casino in NJ

Post by Player422738 »

ER is 0.999205 (variance is only 31 compared with Caesars's double joker PG 0.991 with variance being about 65). In high limit on $1, 2, 5, 10, and 25. I believe on some promotion days, this can be positive, otherwise it's still a quite nice nearly even game.

Now calling for optimal strategy if you have one :P (@New2vp & @BobDancer)

They also have 9/6 JoB with 239 for SF.

Thank you. It seems to be really complicated.

Yep, the list of exceptions is crazy long on this one. I recall trying to work the top of the strategy chart long ago. But the bottom was way too detailed for way too little additional payback to complete it.

For some reason, I thought Bob Dancer had a column on this many years ago, talking about using flash cards to help him memorize the single-card holds, but that might have been a slightly different joker game. He also may have a strategy card that he sells for this one. I can't see enough details to know for certain whether it is an option on the same card on which he shows the Atlantic City 5 of a Kind game strategy. I don't own any of his cards.

I also remember being surprised to find this game as a selection at the quarter denomination in a casino where all the other games were in the 97% range. I was wondering what type of oversight by the slot director this was. Or maybe the strategy was just so difficult, the rake was not too different on this game than the others.

This one will take you a lot of time. Maybe you might want to practice on a trainer and see if you can limit the errors to a reasonable range. Good luck.

Nice find Hop. Strategy is complicated, but still a very good find. I believe the old AC Hilton had this game years ago. I vaguely remember playing it.

Bob Dancer . . . may have a strategy card that he sells for this one.
I do, thank you. It's the red Joker Two Pair card. The purple Kings or Better Joker card is for an entirely different game. A simplified strategy is also found on Video Poker for Winners software.

I studied this game years ago when it was regularly available on $5 machines in las Vegas. It took me several dozens of hours to play well enough to go into a casino. And if it was several months since I last played, it would take me several hours to get back up to speed again.

That said, 99.92% is very very high. I know nothing about this casino and their slot club, but it wouldn't take much to be a positive play. If you're going to be playing there repeatedly, it could well be worth the effort to learn.

If it exists for quarters, keep in mind that the natural royal pays 5,000 coins, which is $1,250 plus a W2G. That makes it a show-stopper for many quarter players.

If it takes Bob that long to get up to speed on this game, it is too difficult for most of us. I remember playing this at the .50 level at the AC Hilton and trying to figure out strategy on the fly. Turns out I was giving up a lot, however I did hit natural royal for $2,500 the second time I played it. This game and others that were 99% plus didn't last long.

This game must be in the high limit room?
