Agree on all three LL.
I have not encountered a chair with arm rests in a casino(mind maybe someplace else at the time). :D
I was referring to the machine counter top. However, I was notorious at Isle years ago when they brought in nice rocking swivel chairs for the high level slots behind the VP. I would take one from there and roll it 10 feet to my side of the room since I was at the VP machines usually hours. ;)

I've moved chairs at a number of casinos for that reason, including sometimes taking one from an empty pit table because the chairs at the upright machines were too low. Usually I can do this with no problem. Occasionally I get told I can't.

Anyone else had wrist or hand problems from counter tops on machines or bars?
Have seen them with a raised trim edge that bites into my wrist, with hand numbing and have to shake it off. Even bars with padded edges get me after a while.

Once you know basic strategy, about 98% of hands are no brainers. I'm not sure sitting at a machine, hours on end, and playing by rote is very stimulating mentally. Toss in the smoke and a couple of drinks and its like ordering a pizza and a diet coke.
It's stimulating at first which is why it's so fun but after a while of rapid firing your way through tons of hands with them all memorized so well it's like second nature the fatigue sets in and eventually your brain just wants to do the total opposite. In a dirty smoky casino that's also really loud I get into such a daze quickly and play slower which is probably a blessing in disguise.

The Big Tobacco lobby is still a potent force and the sad facts are that most city state and local governments are heavily dependent on the taxes collected from tobacco sales just about everywhere in the USA, in Canada, Mexico and elsewhere. That is why tobacco products still even exist and continue to get produced in massive quantities. Add up the deaths related to tobacco since 1900 and the costs in dollars on health care and you arrive at the most infuriating, frustrating situation possibly in human history.

I cannot fault people using selling growing tobacco prior to 1900 and the turn of 20th century because the scientific and medical knowledge didn't really catch up to reality and explain the badness of tobacco really until after 1917/World War I, when the massive number of autopsies of otherwise young healthy men cut down by war showed the internal damage of tobacco smoke and confirmed the suspicions and theories that were prominent about tobacco's harm. The truth is during the early colonial American days, late 1600s thru the Revolution of 1776, American Tobacco was primarily used to cover up the tremendous stench and stink that sadly made up a part of everyday life back then, and of course this continued well into the 19th century thru the early 20th century when plumbing and hygiene products made rapid advances. Life in American and European cities, with horses everywhere and human excrement and sewage everywhere was putrid. People also did not frequently bathe nor had access to deoderant from the 1600s thru late 1800s! In short people stunk, so liberal usage of tobacco in pipes, cigars and in other forms was a remedy for human stench.

Im sure if we all think very hard we can recall some unpleasantly smelling casino patrons from one of our many casino experiences. I have one pop into my mind from Fallsviews in Niagra, and another from a trip made to Atlantic City where I encountered really stinky people to the point where I welcomed smokers and their vile habit!

Suprisingly, playing video poker or poker games as a whole have benefits especially on our brains. It develops focus, patience, concentration, and discipline. There are some scientific study about it. I believe to attain its maximum benefits, we should have an active and balance lifestyle and not just spend the hours playing poker.
