Are casinos putting in less and less video poker machines?

It seems to me whenever i do go to a casino there seems to be less of video poker and more and more slots, Is anyone else seeing this trend?

Fewer vp machines and more coin in to get points and comps vs slots.

Ditto. In fact, pulling them out and replacing with mindless penny machines

If you ran a casino and saw your sheeple preferred fancy new slots that they played at up to $8.80 a spin,
wouldn't you make as much room as possible for them.

Absolutely. They want to maximize profits.

The title question probably can't be answered reliably because so many machines are now hybrid with both slots and video poker available. But in Nevada, official numbers suggest machine counts are down overall. A decade ago, statewide (non-restricted) machine total was 162,201.

Latest available is 122,297. Anecdotally, I notice more open space now, which is partly attributable to social distancing but I think started earlier than that. And probably some machines are larger now.

Yessiree! Step right up! Let me just offload these here old timey VP machines right quick!
I have enough doubts and guilt just playing max on a dollar VP machine. My main problem is finding full pay multi denomination VP machines. That's just not a thing in AC. I guess that I could check Bally's and hope that they didn't totally scrap their old section along the wall. But I hate Bally's in general, so I'm in no rush to return. It's never been too lucky.

Wish I could beam down a few from Mohegan. Quarters halves and dollars all in the same machine allowing up to 25 units bet for each denomination. 99.5 for jacks or better. Don’t know how much longer these will last before they retire them they are all older machines

Some people play the max but a lot of people also play more like $1-2 a spin to start and go down from there. Those who have a very small bankroll might play 1 line or 1 credit per line.

But then if you have a full pay vp machine, a lot of people who play that will be at $5 a hand or better and with the high variance games they could and often do lose 3-4K a day. One player of that ilk can be more profitable than 3 to 5 or more penny slot players. And more than likely they have decent disposable income and will be back as often as the senior set.

The bigger problem being it's too much time and trouble for the younger set to learn vp and they aren't patient enough to wait out the royal and other jackpots.

The trend is definitely to 97% games, fewer of them, and if you don't like it go **** yourself.
And it's not going to get better with people playing $10 a spin at 89% penny stinkin rich like I just saw at Twin River!
