Hi all, wanted to ask what the trick to ultimate x is? i have put in over 2000 hands so far for this months contest (200 hands per session) and just cant get many points. 8800 or so is my high score so far, but i average about 4-5k... obviously your playing for the next hand with the big multiplier but when i do nail a x10 or x12 i seem to brick everytime. im thinking luck is the big factor in this - with the leaders in the 55k range...
thoughts?
thanks!

i got one score that was above 20,000 but only b/c i got a royal with a 4x multiplier.
although i am no expert on ultimate x, i would agree with you that you have to get lucky. however, you have to get lucky with a large multiplier (8 or 10X with a royal to get a royal to get a score in the 50 k's) and the only way to get those large multipliers is to keep getting straights, full houses and flushes.
i have adjusted my strategy so far to shoot for as many of those as possible instead of holding what would normally be the correct holds.
interested what other peoples strategies are....

videopoker-I was thinking the same as you-that to get the large multipliers you need those hands you mentionned. That takes a change in strategy that goes against a lot of the plays we've learned. maybe Ill try it later-anything to get more than 3000-6000 pts a session LOL

hey Boops!!
i was so frustrated that i I got the 20000 score and it didn't rate in the top 10. of course, it would have been gone later, but at least knowing i was there for a while.
did you catch Marie M. in the top ten? she was there for a cup of tea.
it was about 3 or so days ago and I got the 16,000 points (royal x4) like on the 20th hand. I figured for sure with that many more to go I would be able to get some good points. well, no chance :(
let me know if it works out for you. i still am averaging about what you mentioned above, maybe 8000 if I'm lucky.
when are we going to win

Hard to complain about 8,000.
You put in 6,000 credits in a round. So if you were playing quarters, a score of 8,000 means you won $500 in about 15 minutes. I will take that!
Of course that top score right now at 69,000 won more than $15 grand on quarters. Very sweet, and also very rare.

Well, i guess that highlights the difference between a contest (where you are given x amount of credits) and real play (where you have to put x amount in to get y amount of credits).
imagine playing in the casino and you are down $1,300. would you keep playing the extra $200 in hopes that you would hit something big enough to recapture your losses and still be a winner? You may not hit big until you had put $1,500 in. And then, lets say you hit 2 royals for $2,000 (obviously in the same hand for this example); since it was a signer, by the time you had taxes deducted you're probably break even at best!
I understand what your are saying but if the $500 total profit came from signers, then it's not as rosy a situation.
