$375K COVID Jackpot

Post by Lucky Larry »

Due to the COVID-19 shutdown, the Golden Nugget Lake Charles offered a 2X multiplier on all slots and for the first time 2X points on Video Poker. In the spring when they closed I had 25K of the needed 100K tier points to maintain my Elite status. Tier points on VP are accumulated on a $10/point coin in ratio or $1,000,000 coin in for the 100K Elite status. As a result of the 2X campaign my needed 75K tier points ($750,000 coin in) were accomplished with only $375,000 coin in giving me a $375,000 jackpot!!! And no G statement!! ;)

Originally scheduled to end August 31 the offer has now been extended to September 30. Maybe I should shoot for Millionaire Status (invitation only-believed to be around 1M tier points).

Not really. What was your expected loss on that $375,000 coin in. That is what you really saved.
But kudos on hitting the tier status.

My statement was meant as "tongue in cheek" humor, I saved a nice amount of $$ earning the status this year and having it until February 2022 to earn it again. I'll give myself one Pinocchio.

Its been a long week working with/visiting my university students who had to go onto their public school campuses for the next four months. One school was open 3 days this week before the first COVID-19 teacher case was confirmed. Since the school district didn't have a protocol they are now trying to figure out how to respond.

Ditto and double Ditto. The students are just moving in to UCONN and already 20 have tested positive and five or six football players also. Looks like it’s the end of the football season before it even got started. I wanted to volunteer up there either in the science lab or working with the wolves like I used to do over 50 years ago but just can’t risk it now. I believe most of the cases stemmed from parties without Precautions before the kids moved in. It sure doesn’t take much to spread this thing.

Thanks for the kind words of safety. Going to be an interesting week, visit my last campus classrooms which has kiddos in the classrooms and trying to prepare for the possible upcoming hurricane(s). It actually more dangerous going to the campuses than the casino at this point. GNLC has done an excellent job of scanning everyone, mask required, hand wipes and sanitation stations everywhere. The classrooms while limited in student numbers are generally closed door settings (security purposes) and limited air circulation with students not wearing masks. So the facility is wearing a mask in an enclosed room with 12-15 students with no masks all day. Perfect setting for exposure since the neither kids nor faculty/staff are scanned for fever upon entry on campus.

Agree on the good casino efforts. Here in Mi. Soaring Eagle is doing an excellent job.
Temp. checks, spacing,no smoking, sanitation crews very visible, and security actively, and i do mean actively, nails people on mask wearing slackness.

Hey Olds,
UConn an others should use Arizona State's approach they test dorm wastewater and found signs of COVID and tested dorm residents and found cases of asymptomatic carriers.
