Slipshod Caesars

Post by FAA »

I walked into Caesars late this afternoon maskless. It was too much trouble to search for it and I assumed that I would simply be offered one, as has been the case. The temperature checker was distracted by my Swiss hat and engaged me in travel conversation, totally oblivious of my bare face. I walked twenty yards and dug out my mask. WTG, CET!

So none of the mistake of YOU walking into a casino without a mask on falls on YOU? It's always somebody else's fault and none of YOURS? If you get pulled over for speeding by a police officer will you blame the other motorists because you were "keeping up with the flow of traffic?"

It’s on me. But enforcement is abysmal.

I have to agree with Ted on this one FAA. I would never have had the conversation maskless and expose someone. That said, their enforcement was poor. Mohegan’s luckily is tight as a drum. One exception. Last week, I walked by the ultra high roller area and there was a woman playing a 100 dollar machine and SMOKING. This is the first instance I have seen of this since June 1. There was a manager less than ten feet away. I just pointed and he didn’t do anything. I went higher up to his supervisor. At least he scolded her snd made her put it out, but IMO he was overly nice to her. Especially since I knew she was a regular and of course knew the rules. They would have held the machine for her while she went out for a smoke. Way too nice. Should make no difference if you are playing a penny at a time or a hundred. Later I ran into a casino host I know well and told her the story. She raised her fist in disgust not at the smoking patron, but the first manager who did nothing. Point being, I smelled that single cigarette a hundred feet away. Could have been full of coronavirus for all I know. She had her mask down under chin as well. I would have loved to confront her myself, but could have been banned in the process. Their rules are very clear about interactions with other players. I saw a guy get banned once for just returning a sucker punch somebody gave him. Both got banned.

Held the machine? Who else is playing $100 machines? As far as fighting, Connecticut is a classier state than that. The checker initiated the conversation. I just wanted a mask; they preferred to shoot the breeze.

FAA, in your originating post you stated that "it was too much trouble to search for it" and you go on to say "I walked twenty yards and dug out my mask."

Now, again, you say "I just wanted a mask; they preferred to shoot the breeze."

So; you had a mask with you and I think you were just seeking another seemingly free mask from the casino, then got irritated because you didn't get one from them.

They have been distributed like candy. Patrons can get spoiled. The main point is lax enforcement. Other casinos are much more rigorous, from the top down. Employee is lucky that video hasn’t been posted these days.

Olds, massive fight at sports book today between a homeless elderly man and a muscular patron. HEM started it and patron finished it. I saw his punch leave left side of face bloody. Shattered glass just missed me in front row. EMTs, both arrested.

How was your gambling day today though, FAA? Up, down, even? I didn't see anything in "The Path II."
Keeping on topic; were they both wearing masks?

Close call. As to Mohegan, plenty of fights here too over the years, but haven’t seen any lately. None since covid. You would be surprised up here how many people play the few 100 buck machines.
