Anything less than Airport Deuces at 98.91 and I won’t touch a Deuces wild game.

In return for that occasional four deuces, you are giving up breaking even on the most common hand- a high pair.
DW can have a superior payback to JOB, but in reality, it is rarely offered and a poor DW pay schedule, which is quite common, will eat your BR most days. Four deuces happens roughly every 5,000 hands. That is an awful lot of non-paying high pairs to muddle through.
All true.

Another factor is that all JoB games have approximately the same strategy. DW strategies vary a lot --- sometimes you hold a pair over a four-flush, sometimes you don't; sometimes you hold two pair, sometimes you don't; if you do hold one pair, in some variations it matters which pair you hold.

That said, if you only play one DW game, it is arguably easier to learn that strategy well than JoB well. Also, I find DW to be a more entertaining game to play than JoB. This rarely enters into my decision-making (I'm after the game that makes me the most money), but many people here play mainly for fun and accept the fact that they are going to be a net loser.

I cut my teeth- as many have- on JoB. Once I made the decision to move on to a more "entertaining" game, I chose the DDB/TDB route as opposed to the DW route (I basically skipped the BP, DB, etc. intermediate options).

Not to hijack the thread, but I would be interested to know what you or others would say is a LESS entertaining game than JoB? And, if playing a game with multipliers or playing multi-hand variants, wouldn't the entertainment factor difference between DW and JoB be even greater, given the only real thrill in the multipliers being hitting the premium hands other than the royal?

The way I play JOB 9/6 only is plenty entertaining for me. I could never sit there all day plunking deal on 5 quarters. I like to do math in my head after every hand. It keeps me sharp. Most wouldn’t enjoy that though.

I always enjoyed DW, but as I got serious about it I realized there were actually many versions of it, with multiple payouts and the need to play each differently. As playing VP was a hobby and not a job, DW was too much work for me.

That's how I feel. That's just such a depressing robotic grind. Of course, it costs me $3,000 if I short coin playing dollars. But I can't keep giving the casino $1.25 or $5 per hand. It's not worth the entertainment and will bust me more often than not. I try and starve them and hope I cash in on max.

Bob,

By well, do you mean "ploppy well" or computer perfect... If the latter, that seems counter to what I've garnered from you over the years, as well as experience using guides and software (NSUD vs. 9/6 JOB for example).
