The point I am making is that there is a price to pay for enjoying long-term VP.
Not necessarily. I just gave an example of a 1%+ edge plus generous comps.

Good JOB play, one Vegas casino's current promo offers a little over 1.5% total free slot play for the first $32k coin-in of the month. And they usually follow up with more free play in the mail. In addition, you'll receive just over 1% in total comp dollars.

Yeah, great, I'd be there with bells on. But that's just local fodder. Most members are not locals or even annual visitors. You're talking about a very unique situation to exploit. Tablet's point stands for the rest of us who must necessarily concede the casino's cut for our few hours of perilous fun.

Not at all. Many markets have playable opportunities. As posted here, Michigan had (and may still have) excellent games with big-money drawings. Borgata has multiplier days pushing the JoB far into the positive. Mohegan has 99.95% Pickem, so you only need minor slot club value to go positive.

That's only the most obvious stuff. If you're clever, you should be able to find more subtle situations that aren't readily apparent from looking at vpfree2 and casino website promo pages.

I'm not clever enough to have a good play available 24/7, but I only play when I have an edge. If I can't find an edge, I don't play.

Those days have always eluded those who play on the most popular casino day of the week. They don’t market to Saturday suckers like myself. We’re pretty much a captive crowd.

Tablet22331 - In your post above it would appear that a value of 0.5% has already been assigned to the collection of pot holders.

Symbolic gift. Casinos leave most of us holding the (empty) bag.

I use my pot holders to hold my pot.

Saturdays are sometimes drawing days or other promotions to get the Saturday crowd to their casino.

Yes, very true. I see the "Invited Guests Only" small print disclaimer on the bottom of their plasma screen invitations each Saturday. What an infinite loop of a cesspool it all is. Keeping my play short and hanging on to what I do win from here on out.

Slice it and dice it any way you want. The bottom line is that casinos are in business to make money, not give it away. It is very true that there are selected days and selected promotions that can be profitable to a customer, but this does not change the basic business model of a casino, which is to offer attractive and addictive fun and games that over the long haul will result in a profit to the casino. Of course short term motivational wins for customers are a very critical part of that business model. Long term motivational wins....nope, sorry.
