I Need a Casino Trip Already

Post by Lucky Larry »

I posted this as a response but decided to start a new topic. Many VP players are having to gauge the risks of returning to a casino. Sweet C and I have been going but take many precautions; vaccinated, masks at all times, wipes and alcohol spray of the machines, and going during low play times -early-mid week to miss weekends, eating at the outside cocktail tables instead of inside at peak times. So here is a perspective story. Where am I safer?

So everyone needs a good laugh! And, Olds you'll really appreciate this with your wife's background. My university semester has already started up. Met with my students face-to-face in late July-socially distanced and masked. Public school Inservice started last week and classes begin this week here in many of the area districts. Over the years, I have often heard how Texas schools are failing in their roles....With our....(inappropriate word's) governor's wisdom,(yes, he is a product of Texas schools) schools can no longer provide safety for students/staff by requiring masks and kids under 12 aren't eligible for vaccine yet. The new edicts from the Texas Education Agency (appointed by the guv) now no longer require schools to notify parents if a staff member or student in a class was sent home with Covid and are no longer required to contract trace. So, can't required masks, no notification of sick staff or students, no tracing... what could go wrong.

So Friday, I go to 3 schools in a district set to begin Monday to visit my student teachers. Saturday I get a call from one of my students who has developed severe Covid symptoms. Exposure #1. Sunday at noon I receive a text from another student teacher explaining she got a text that her Cooperating Teacher tested positive for Covid. Exposure #2 Hey, good odds 2 out of 3.

Following protocol, I notify the university, who email me back saying because of the new rules and the fact that I'm vaccinated, therefore; I am no longer considered to have had an "exposure". Go back to work.

Four more campuses today. So tonight I told Sweet C we may as well go to the casino...it's probably safer....than at school. I fully anticipate a FUBAR coming soon to our neighborhood schools.

Addendum: Just checked my university email. In an open letter to all employees, the faculty senate has voted to override the university president (who is taking the guv's lead) and demand a return to hybrid/on-line university classes like this past spring because of the Covid situation instead of face-to-face. Gonna be an interesting semester. Gosh darn I need a casino trip!!!

Hey LL. Wrote back on the other thread. Enjoy what trips we may have left with Covid. Stay safe and well. We take almost the same precautions. As much as we enjoy the lounge, they went back to pre Covid days a week or so. Now it is IMO unsafe to eat in there. Open buffet, shared tongs, and the rest. Sometimes, we will grab a quick drink and run. At least they have refrained from bringing back smoking. If they do that, we are done.

PS…..I know you guys like multi line games. When you go, keep your eyes open for an All Star 2 machine that has a triple spin poker option. It may be set up like a couple at Mohegan. Pays the correct amount for the Royal for bet one. Gives one a lot of freedom on your bets and keeps the budget under control if you want to.

Olds,
thanks for the heads up. I've seen it but I can't remember, I don't think its on the All Stars I play. But, I know its at Coushatta our other favorite and if I recall it still had the 98% return DW and 99% JOB/Bonus. I hoping to get to Coushatta to play Carrie famous multi-strike for a while.

Stay safe...wear a mask.

LL

Absolutely. Thanks LL. We had it on All Star One, but in one of their recent what I call Downgrades, they wrecked the paytable and removed the 800 for bet One. I don’t hesitate to tell management when I see them working casino wide and they tell me they are doing an upgrade to tell them….Oh you mean downgrade as far as we the player are concerned. The ones with a sense of humor will nod or smile. Usually the Suits will either frown or walk away. They don’t like it when we players know wat they are up to. I may get banned some day. If so, Eh!!! Oh well. I always confront them professionally though. I think they aren’t used to that and sometimes don’t know what to say or do.

On our machines LL, the Joker Kings is 98.44. The Deuces has that strange paytable, but I think is around 98.5. Can’t get 99 percent games on multi line machines. Th strange Deuces one is 25/12/10/4/4/3/2/1. Its Ok if we hit lots of straight flushes, but not so Ok if the five of a kinds are hitting better. 12 instead of 15 is a big difference. I will post this pic from last week on that game again for you. Maybe I can send it your way. Wish I hadn’t given it back already, but that’s VP.

Lucky Larry, we would not be in this new COVID situation if the unvaccinated had taken advantage of countless opportunities to protect themselves and their families with FREE and CONVENIENT vaccination. For the elected leaders such as the FLA governor and others who have placed politics ahead of public health, there is a special place in he11 for them. It is beyond my understanding why everyone did not take advantage of the vaccination. One genius told me he did not vaccinate because he was worried that the vaccine would make him sick. Sicker than dying of COVID?

I know it's tricky because many conversations these days naturally go there, but let's try to keep Covid discussions and political discussions in the Anything and Everything forum. Any further replies on those subjects should go in that area. Thanks. :)

Yep. Most of it before I left the casino. The rest Monday and another 3 bills today. I only played an hour. I went up strictly for one of thise stupid slot tournaments where you bang non stop on a mindless slot machine. Sooooooo stupid, but about ten years ago I did win one for 5 grand. The machines just have not been with me overall. Especially when the bets have been large. Time to regroup and rethink before I end up down as much as prior years.
