last year the buses to my casino were running frequently so i could stay as long as i want but now its a get in and get out type of deal so my play time is short.

however i recall when i put my coat on a machine i went to use the bathroom, i came back no less than 3-5min and find it missing, the security swiped it!

next week i had to use the rest room came back 2 asian couple were on my machine didn't speak any english.

how does one deal with machine holding and 3-5minutes away from the machine?

Depends.
In Las Vegas, many people put a napkin diagonally on the screen and sometimes another on the seat, but many tourists don't know the code. I don't camp out on a machine and generally don't drink in a casino so it is less of an issue.

Security likely believed that you had left and therefore took it for safekeeping. And so someone else could utilize the machine. Would you rather someone else take it?

It isn't "your" machine if you got up and left.

Try hailing a slot attendant and see if your tier status allows them to lock it for you. Otherwise, SOL.

Bring a Hefty bag; drape over seat. Nobody will sit there at the very least. Worst case scenario, you lose the bag to an ill timed security sweep. At Borgata bar, the code is to tip your chair on its front legs against the bar top. I've never had a session over two hours or needed to employ this method.

Tell the person next to you that you are coming back, turn your chair around if possible, and leave your card in the machine. If no one is there, have a casino worker watch the machine during your 3-5 minutes.

One time my wife and I were at machines and I left my money and card in a machine since I was going to pickup a gift and would be right back. A guy came by while I was gone and she explained the situation. He didn't care and proceeded to sit down and play at the machine. My wife took out my card and money. I came back and she told me what happened. I told him I was back and had the gift in hand. He kept playing. I told him again, louder this time that I was back. He cashed out and left.

Tipping the chair forward up against the machine always works for me. Some casinos, however, have the chairs bolted to the floor so you can't do this. If for any reason I cannot tip the chair forward, then I make sure I am cashed out and card removed before I leave for a restroom break. If there is someone at the next machine, they will sometimes watch my machine, but I absolutely do not expect them to get into a fight for me.

Always an issue. Best to try and get a nearby person to help you.

Always an issue. Best to try and get a nearby person to help you. Years ago, when Ballys AC had full pay 9/5 Double Jokers, (99.97%), in triple play for dollars, and generous cashback offers, people would come in for the week, and when they needed to sleep, would get an attendant to shut the machine down for hours at a time. Nothing you could do.

I cash out but leave my card in. If someone is nearby, I will ask them politely if they would mind watching. I sometimes will leave a jacket on the chair, cover the screen too, tip the chair, and even leave a full bottle on the chair. Usually works ok. Casinos are so short staffed nowdays, I dont ask an employee to watch the machine. Never leave money in the machine though
