If only he could pursue this lofty goal at MS!
That remains to be seen ! Good point !!
Back to favorite memories it is. Years ago, I went down to Ac on a Friday afternoon with a limited $ 400 budget. Went to Ballys to play the quarter Bonus Poker Triple play progressive. After 20 minutes, hit a $1,180 royal on the middle line. Now had a budget to play $1.00 9/6 JOB at Borgata so got in the car and went over. After another 30 minutes, yep, a $ 4,000 royal. Had about $200 in credits left and figured take a shot at $1.00 DDB. Dealt 4 aces and ten, toss the ten and get dealt a 4-another $2,000. Still only 3 O'clock so I play on and hit the aces again w/o the kicker for another $ 800. Ended the afternoon up approx $8,000 after going down with $ 400 bucks. Best afternoon, even though I had hit 3 8k top line royals previously on 9/6 JOB multi strikes at Borgata. It was the frequency of the hits that afternoon.
you went in with 400$ roll and left with 8k? now that makes me want to leave today for the casinos instead of tomorrow!
400$ seems weak were you just starting your gambling career? ive learned 500$ is the bare bones atleast my games at vp if i am going to do something wrong atleast i should do it right, having a fighting chance and getting comped correctly hours spent is best way to go, my dads friend said go in with a 100$ and all you lose is an 100$ thats correct but again still need that fighting chance!
Most people go with $100 and try to win $1000 when the better strategy is to go with $1000 and try to win $100...by the way- there is essentially no difference between 400 and 500 dollars. They are both weak unless you are playing less than quarters.

Much of the confusion comes down to semantics. Most people may know what both are but do not necessarily understand things like odds for, odds against, ratios. Once the event has happened, getting back to a prior example with a Royal, the next event before the button is pushed does become roughly a one in 40,000 or so chance. Anyway, explaining the difference is more difficult than understanding it for most people.
As to being under bankrolled, my biggest losses have always been when that is the case. Playing with scared money almost always results in disaster.

Its like a 2 team parlay at sports betting. if both teams have a 50% chance to win BEFORE either team plays then its .5x.5=.25 or 25% chance of parlay success. one in 4 chance or 3to1 against !! I think the joker wild video poker strategy is much more difficult to grasp than the above !

Walking out of the Hard Rock Tampa losers, we pass the no smoking section and the wife said how about trying .50 TDBP. Noticed the .25 TDBP downstairs were 9/6 but in the no smoking, 8/5? Anyway, hit the royal for 2K. Walked out +$500.00.

Anything is beatable short term. I went for the bucks on BPD today, giving up over 1% of my usual JOB pay out. Hey, we got the nice hits regardless.

I know it was a weak bankroll for what I was about to play, but was prepared to walk if I lost the 400 bucks. I certainly wasn't new at this, I had been playing VP for years, including back in the day when there was positive plays in AC. As I indicated, I had hit 3 8k top line royals on multistrikes, but they were one hit wonders. This afternoon was the best memory.

Atlantic City, Sands Casino 2002ish.

I was coming in from a night of drinking ,and as I was passing a bank of video poker machines, one started calling out to me. I didn't play much VP in those days and this game had a joker in it so I didn't know the pay tables to see if they paid right. It's a fifty cent machine so at $2.50 a pop it can get expensive fast.
I throw in $20 and hit a full house on the first spin. I go to cash out, but decide the machine didn't call me over for $25. The next hand I get a flush but press on. Two or three losing hands and I get dealt four of a kind. I'm all excited when someone reminds me to finish the hand. I was so excited about the 4OAK that I forgot about the joker and the new card was indeed the Joker. 4,000 credits. I'm pretty drunk and am thinking it is quarters, so $1,000 but the girl is counting out $100 bills and is up to $1400 before I realize it is a $2,000 payout. I sign some paperwork, tip her $50 and am walking away when she calls me over and reminds me I have about $70 in the machine. \
The next afternoon, I try to find the machine but it is not where I remembered it being.
