GN Lake Charles TY Coushatta!

Post by Lucky Larry »

Monday and Tuesday trip to Golden Nugget Lake Charles to play 2X points on Monday to complete Sweet C's tier level requirements before Feb. 1. Got that completed but no hits of any mention and down all trip. Packed early Tuesday afternoon after a great steak lunch/dinner at Salt Grass-thank you weekly food comps. Bags packed in the car and I asked Sweet C if she wanted to delay checking out and go to Coushatta (40 minutes away with the best VP in La.- 98% VP returns) and our old time favorite until GN opened with better comps. A smile told me all I needed to know, pulled the last from our rock bottom "401G" account when we got there and saved $3 on the ATM fee. Our tentative plan was to play, then head home and check out from GN on the way. Got there around 4:30, played our favorite machines and kept hitting enough to stay in the game. Finally, a little after 11:00 pm, having already cashed out $1K, I caught this little ACES gem. Then another $1K ticket fueled us until at 2:00 a.m. exhausted we head back to our bed at GN. Recouped all our GN losses and rebuilt the 401G. Makes us 2WG's for two trips in '22. Of yeah, and since Coushatta is a Native American casino-not taxes taken out!!!!

No taxes taken out, but it is still income to report, am I correct? If I am wrong and Indian casino winnings are tax free that would be great!!!

Fantastic!! Just one quick question LL. Doesn’t your bank rebate the ATM fees. Up here the ATMFees at the casino are 5.95, but my bank that I have been with since age 5 rebates the fees for the month directly into your account. The bummer about that is when the rebate fee goes over 600 for the year which mine does, you get a 1099 and have to report the rebate fees on the same line as gambling income on your 1040.
I opened that account when our class in Kindergarten or 1st grade filled up our litte book on class with dimes. As a field trip, the entire class went to the bank to open accounts and we all learned a bit about money, saving, and banking.
One of the biggest bummers for my wife as a teacher was when a few years before her retirement, the local board did not allow teachers to teach money as part of the math lessons. The kids learned so much that way. I remember both of us saving up our change so there would be enough to pass out to the class to learn with. To me, that was one of the biggest mistakes the board ever made in discontinuing teaching money. These same idiots would try every experminental program under the sun every year on various subject matters spending tons of taxpayer dollars on the materials then toss them after one school year or part of a year when the teachers and the kids scores snd numbers showed they for the most part didn’t work. The phrase let teachers teach went out the window a few years before she retired.
Now they are begging her to go back with Covid staffing shortages waving re certification requirements and also income limits. Both my brother and wife said they can pound sand as if anything the things they are mandating being taught are worse than when they both retired!! We feel so bad for the kids in this environment. Not to expand too much on a vp thread, but the first graders returning to class from virtual learning don’t know anything about taking turns, raising their hand, or even lining up in the hallway or classroom. Sooooo sad. The clueless politicians IMO are just destroying giving these kids the opportunity to learn and be social at the same time at an early age. Granted Covid is a big monkey wrench, but these kids are already 2-3 years behind where they should be. PS…..getting back to vp, I never had a great hand like that dealt to me on multi line play. I guess that’s why 95 percent of my play is still on single line games. Ove again. Congrats to you both! Stay safe and well…..Olds.

Olds,
My bank, you one of the biggest in America, used to not charge any fees because they held our mortgage. Then even that changed and it has continued to expand even when I brought the issue to local and upper management. I did see last week or two they PR'ed they are now reducing and eliminating fees.

Texas Essential Knowledge and Skill (TEKS) requires not only $$ curriculum starting in K-12, but also Consumer /Free Market concepts and in 12th economics investing/financial concepts. But, you're right our Texas politicians believe in a "business/factory model" so every class in 1,100 state districts are required to teach the same curriculum (TEKS), many districts require the same lesson the same day of the week regardless of mastery of concepts. Their belief is we can "teacher proof" teaching and use a factory model for more efficiency. Which is why 50% of the state's 4th graders are reading below level because we teach separate skills not reading. Oh, and don' even get me started on math where students aren't encouraged to learn math facts! I still get enraged at some of the state non-educator mandated strategies.

I sat in once on one of my wife’s “ new math “ mandate lessons. I had to pop another BP pill on the way home. She tried to work in traditional too when she could. Ok Forget I wrote that. I won’t get you started. Just stay safe and well. I can tell our families would have lots to chat about between vp, school, sports, and of course food. Hope to be able to meet one of these days if things ever calm down.
