Hey don't make fun of us old farts....I am still decent with a slide rule. But, a heck of lot better with Excel nowadays! Sweet C and I are old enough to both remember and use Lotus. Excel is my go to for 90% of my work outside of word processing.

Me too! As a matter of fact, after my upcoming birthday, I will be able to display my age with three circles.Lucky Larry wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 8:14 pmHey don't make fun of us old farts....I am still decent with a slide rule. The use of this term says even more than the mention of Lotus!

I guess I am the head dinosaur. I know what it is, but never used any of the above programs. First computer at work was an IBM think pad with Unix. Then windows. It crashed do much, I retired in 2003. Very frustrating at the time. I actually almost forgot how to use the slide rule, but have it in its beautiful leather case. I do lots in my head still am pretty good at what the final answer will be. I have a game I have always played with the family whenever we go to dinner. I look at the menu when we order and that is the only time. I guess what the tab will be and almost always I will be within fifty cents. I missed when the State jacked our restaurant sales tax to .0735.

I am an ancient warrior as well. First job working with a computer was an IBM room-sized computer which used punch cards to input data and required the room to be temperature controlled. Took computer programming in college in the mid-1960s. We were taught on an IBM 1620 which also used punch cards. We had to write a program in machine language and punch our own cards. Later we learned Fortran and Cobol. I switched majors in my junior years and have forgotten everything from those days other than don't eat chocolate while handling punch cards.olds442jetaway wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 12:43 pmI guess I am the head dinosaur.
