Old and Still Wild and Crazy

Post by Lucky Larry »

To say the semester has been wild and crazy is an understatement. Another double teaching/supervision load, made worse with Covid and recovering from major back surgery. Down to the last month of the semester and while on the downhill run-I still have a lot of observations to complete with my students. Exhausted from the semester and physical therapy, I should have rested but....so after hinting and joking about a trip over to the casino, where I know i won't get any rest...we decided late Saturday to go over and just take a hotel room if it gets too late to make the 2 hour drive back.

Arrive as the sun sets and grab dinner first. Then we head to the machines. My favorite is now open and I begin the run with a hefty $500 bankroll left over from the last trip. Coushatta has the best pay tables in La. so I"m hoping for a good night. The management has taken the 10 hand minimum of the quarter play so I begin playing 7-8 hands and moving up as the hits come. Up and down, 4RF on 15 hands and nada! Then a great run starts with 4 deuces, followed by 3x5 Aces on Dbl Bonus DW out of 15 hands on 25¢. Cash out at $1,300 and put another $400 in to keep the ticket. If I lose my timing on 25¢, I move to 5¢ and back and forth. Catch a 5¢ royal, another hand with 6 x 4 deuces and deuce/wA on 100 hands, and then moving back to 25¢ catch a royal. Cash out $2,000. Not a bad night! Except, its now 3:15 am and I'm 45 minutes from the hotel. As they say, "No rest for the weary..." but a new good vibe in my mindset
.
PS: No nap on Sunday as we watched our son and the professional boat racing team he works with race boats in our area. Nice to have him close as they travel all over the US and also knowing that he is too old to be driving anymore. Go get them Mike!

Well LL, at least I know there are at least 2 members of the old, wild, and crazy club. Nice going down there. I am planning an overnight myself tomorrow. The Mrs was going to go, but has an early lunch date with the girls the following morning. The gimmick to get me there tomorrow is some free play on Wednesday and a free tool kit tomorrow. Hope I have a session half as good as the last one. I know in advance those follow up sessions can be tough so I will be treading cautiously. The UCONN girls lost as I’m sure you have heard by now. My brother is still out there for another day or so. Masks back on for me in the casino. Our numbers are heading in the wrong direction again. Glad you get to see your son’s team in the boat racing scene. I never raced one except a hydroplane in Nassau on my honeymoon in 1972. That was a blast. I did race British sports cars locally in the 1960s, and more than a few local drags in my 65 442. I will post anything exciting tomorrow. I read the Mrs. your post about school catchup events and she said ugh! Do I know that feeling. When you think you are all caught up…..well you know the rest. Best of luck with the back. Those things can be so tricky no pun intended.

You guys are not the only ancient warriors here. Only difference, is that I am staying away from casinos at the moment.

Can’t say as I blame you. I am keeping a daily eye out. Covid patterns are very bad right now.

Covid is not the reason I have been staying away from casinos. I only have gone twice for a very short time since last year. We may see an increase given what is happening elsewhere. I tested positive mid-January and had relatively mild symptoms that last about 3 days. With my antibodies presumably still protecting me along with my vaccinations and booster, I am not concerned about going to local casinos. Casinos here are actually taking more precautions than most other places (except doctor's offices/medical facilities). In fact, Covid cases in AZ have bottomed out the last few weeks.

Otabill,

You're right! First, the casinos we've started playing after a long hiatus were filtering and keeping cleaner than any place outside most hospitals. Coushatta still is filtering and recommending masks.

We need to meet up even if by Zoom on of these days. If not we'll just have to make another AZ trip.
Stay safe and you are still in Sweet C and my thoughts.

Thanks Larry and Sweet C for keeping me in your thoughts. Means a lot to me. One of these days, hopefully we will be able to meet up.

I think quite a few of us here think about each other even though we have never met. After awhile, it is almost like we have known each other for years.
