Harrah's Diamond Cove

Post by TripleTriple »

I was itching to put my two trip win streak at risk and had the choice of Fri 11/11 or Sun 11/13. On account of Nicole remnants and traffic, I opted for Sunday. Rolled under the "Welcome to Atlantic City" sign around 11am, made my usual stop in Brigantine and back over the inlet bridge to the hotel. I was booked in Atrium Suite but didn't check in right away. Scanned card for promotion and waited at a machine on the floor outside the Cove. Began play and within the hour was down around six bills. Decided to take a break and do some reconnaissance.

Ended up at my familiar bank of machines inside the Cove and began "feeding the animals". Along about 20 minutes later and halfway through the BR, I was blessed with my first dealt SF-

After taxes out, I had some moderate luck and maxed my bet. but soon was down almost back to even and had to play at $2. Fortunately I was able to draw this from a pair-

More taxes out and a check this time! I can't be trusted. I ordered a drink and took a breather without getting up. Up the denomination again and a little while later, this-

Took taxes out but asked for cash to continue assault. Played at $5 for as long as I could but eventually had to step it back down. Don't you know within 20 minutes I get this-

Oops, I did it again! Now my wallet had identical twin checks. Back up to Abe credits for a while, and after a poor streak once again decided to back off. It's amazing how quick a thousand goes at 50 bucks a hand! (though the Tier credits do go up quickly). Promotion over and about to call it a wrap, I got this tease-

I was well over 4000 TC and really wanted 5000 to get the 10,000 bonus but I was STOOPID and left the Cove and blew over $1500 at a different machine. Took a break to eat at the Laurel Lounge and make the rounds. I did check into my room 14th floor, but only stayed for 30 minutes. I went back to the Cove, but my seat was filled. If I hadn't have left, I might still be there! Five hand-pays at same machine in 3 hours. I didn't stay the night, figured I'd beat the AM rush. Finished with 4400 or so TC. Needless to say I'll be loaded for bear for this weekend, when I put my three trip streak on the line.

Here's the one that "got away"-

Congrats. So, I guess practice DOES make perfect.

On my last visit to Las Vegas in 2018 I had 4 handpays from the same machine: 2k @10:29 pm; 4k @10:33 pm; 2.5k @12:24 am; 2k @12:28 am, and 4k @1:01 am.

Trips like yours make for some good memories.

I'm almost looking at it in regret, as in I should've gone for it. But I have to be "disciplined" in that better opportunities await. I have over 1000 dollars in rewards credits and can only see myself redeeming them at 2:1 for free play. I've already eschewed several years of diamond dinners and trips to Vegas, Nah'leens, and cruises to places I've already been. I was surprised to find I've gone almost a year without realizing I could have access to 7* lounge by being Elite, so now I'd really like to keep that status, and THAT is a dangerous thing. But hey, I'm quitting the 9-5 soon so it behooves me to make my move. Wouldn't want to dip into that Roth. The lesson learned is it's the journey, take a step back every so often and take stock. I endured a 13 trip losing streak and likely will have similar slumps but enjoy the good times. As Mark Twain said...well you know the quote. If not look it up.

We shall see...

Amount aside, I revel in the times I rail against the odds and survive. I know I'll never win 13 in a row like I lost 13 in a row, so I try to maximize going 4 in a row. My saving grace is I do have a loss limit, but not a win limit. 5 or 6 in a row and the casino is gonna start sweating it, cause I won't forget 2021. And I don't care.

Myoo-hah-hah-hah (rubbing hands like mad scientist)....

I was Diamond Elite a couple years ago and this year I'm sitting at Diamond Plus and already have that again for next year. When comparing Plus to Elite the only thing I would gain is the $600.00 air fare credit and to me that wasn't worth earning the additional tier credits. Being Diamond Plus opens enough doors for me.

Congrats again on the nice hits.

Appreciate that Ted. Who knows maybe I'm like Ozzy and goin off the rails on the crazy train...Bark at the moon! There's worse fate than that, and I certainly don't recommend others taking my approach, it's a risky proposition. But don't do the crime if you cant do the time, no no don't do it.....

The streak ended at three last week. I racked up over 5000 TC but was only able to summon one small handpay. Also had a good run starting at 200 and taking that to 2100 but gave it all back. Just couldn't get that kicker hand.
