New Lake Charles Horseshoe Casino

Post by Lucky Larry »

Grant Opening 12/12

It replaces the old Isle of Capri boat. Horseshoe is land based. Casino has about 800 machines, it is nice but small built on the old parking lot between the parking garage and the hotel. Ceasars wanted a piece of the action close to the Houston and Texas money since Golden Nugget (GN) and L'Au berge du lac (LDL)take in $1M+ per day.

First impressions say a lot!

Nice, pretty, well lit, high glass entrance with tall, wide covered Valet. Ceasar's spared no expense!!! Ha! Ha! What a joke, a poor quality asphalt driveway for Valet with beautiful landscaping and huge glass entrance. The inside is very bright and fairly roomy with tall ceilings which should help the air quality.

Slots: There seemed to be a good variety of popular machines.
VP: We estimated maybe 15-16 VP machines (not counting 4-5 at the couple of bars). Multiple machines were shut down, some with battery issues on the screen, others just "off" for opening day! The lowest denomination was 25¢ and only 3-4 multiple hand machines that we could find all in the area back by the parking garage entrance (I think). The pay tables match GN and LDL.

Eating: It looks like 4-5 places and they have a sports bar with some food.

Carrie and mom Sweet C figure it is still better to fly to Vegas on Ceasar's charter than drive over two hours. That should tell you a lot!

I'm interested in other opinions since we just walked around, played $5 and punched out token "opening day tickets".
