Loss of a close, dear friend.

Post by Lucky Larry »

I lost one of my best VP friends earlier this month. We'd known each other and played video poker together for the past 8 years. We'd spent thousands of hours together. We even moved around the casino together. I knew the end was close when I talked the VP tech earlier this month at Coushatta. My friend was not well and the tech told me they would have to reprogram my friend. Goodbye, old friend YL 65721, I will miss you and my VP life will never be the same. Even Sweet C sends her condolences.

So, YL65721 was an old hundred play machine. One of six 50/100 play machines at Coushatta Casino, Kinder, La. VP at Coushatta is a rarity. All denominations (1¢-25¢) have the same pay tables and the same exact games. Full pay Bonus & JOB, 9/6 DDB, 98.99 DW/DWB and decent pay TDB. However, YL65721 was different. It was a renegade, hidden at the bottom was Dbl Bonus DW at 99.9% return. Only a few of us knew it and we kept it a secret for years. My friend gave me my two $10K hand pays and thousands of dollars in pay outs, countless hours of pleasure and some frustration. You were a friend to the end-my last 2022 hand pay was $10K. Rest in peace old friend. There aren't many out there like you!

Sad but fascinating story. Your friend lived an amazing life.

Good to see someone making hay at a tribal.

YL65721 died for you, what a sacrifice. Now he is looking down at you.

A touching story even if it was a machine. Notice I didn’t say just a machine. More hours together than most friends and family members.
I actually did lose a close friend and my first Mentee 2 weeks ago. While I have been retired 20 years, he had just retired 3 weeks ago. Life is short and every day is a gift.

Olds,
My condolences on the loss of your mentee. We've both been blessed with a good retirement quality and quantity I'm going on year 16 having retired at 56. Rested one semester and moved to the university part-time and love the flexibility and opportunity to still impact the education profession. One rarely knows when the last moments of life will occur. Enjoy every moment to the fullest and enjoy those around you.
