Wind Creek Casino, Illinois

New casino, Wind Creek, opened on 11/11/24, located in a south suburb of Chicago and is about 20 minutes from my home. It is owned by Native Americans and they have about 12 casinos scattered in the United States, Aruba, and Curacao. In the US, mainly Alabama, including Bethlehem, PA. I was humming and hawing about visiting the new casino on opening weekend but curiosity got the best of me so I headed over about midnight, thinking the crowd may have thinned out by then as they are only temporarily open from 8:00 am to 4:00 am. Well, I was wrong about the crowd thinning, they were packed! I stood in a very long line to secure a players card, got tired of waiting and went on a walk around the place, seeking out video poker. After finding video poker located all in one area, I sat down at a machine that had the double royal payout, 8,000 for max coin, and stuck some money in. After dumping $500.00 really quickly, I decided to try another machine. I sat down at an All Star III machine that featured all the normal games and started with some 10 play TDB, .50 denom. About 15 minutes in, I had some luck, and:
Some general thoughts on this new Wind Creek Casino. It is beautiful, bright inside, nice food choices, and a hotel will be opening in 3 months. Not that I'll need the hotel but if I get a free room offer, I may check it out. I did eventually get a players card, the slot attendant who took care of my first handpay got me one.
One big negative and a caution. The property REEKED of weed. If you like the aroma of marijuana, this place will suit you. I do not. Illinois casinos are smoke free but recreational marijuana is legal in Illinois. People take full advantage of this by smoking marijuana in the parking garage and other outdoor parking lots. You can smell it in the hallways and on the people who just smoked it. For this reason, I do not know how often I will patronize this place and I'm reserving judgement to see if the facility does anything about this as it will drive people away from the place. Note, none of the Joliet casinos have this same issue.
After waiting an extended period of time to get paid, I upped my denom to $1.00 as I was reloaded. About 20 minutes later:
After collecting another hand pay, the wait was shortened this time, I decided to try some Dream Card. I don't particularly care for the updated version but decided to play some anyway. No luck on Dream Card. I switched to Double Super Times Pay and:
I decided to switch back to 10 Play TDB and closed out the night with:
