Hi all and hope everyone has a happy and healthy New Year! Hubby and I left Brooklyn for the Taj 12/31 at around 3:30. SOOOO much traffic in Jersey! Got to the casino around 7PM. No one on the VP checkin line! However the guy tells me no more smoking rooms-then I see him lean over and ask the other clerk something-yes thats a smoking room she says-woohoo! Then I hear its in the new tower-We dont like the rooms there cause the tv is not straight ahead of the beds-you have to watch with your neck turned! And as Im sure everyone knows by now we enjoy watching a few movies! But beggars cant be chosers-later we found out this wasnt a corner room so the tv was in the correct position and they even had an armchair with an ottoman! VERY nice room.
 
Started at the $1 STP game. We played off opur bonus coin playing 1 line 6 coins and we got 4 aces! Then we played quarter 3 line STP DDB. I did really well. 4Aces with Kicker, 2's with kicker, 4's with kicker, and a few good multiplier hands. Hubby held his own. We stopped playing to get our tickets to the party around 730. We were up around $900!
 
We originally were invited to the sit down dinner party but hubby didnt want to get dressed up-and 12/31 is his bday sooooooooooo. He wore jens and a tee with a nice shirt over it and i wore jeans with a pretty sparkly top. We got our tickets changed to the Jerry Blavat dowop party. Of course when we got there 95% of the people were very dresses up! It was also sitdown but a buffet and they had an open bar and waiters and waitresses at the table. The food was excellent-prime rib especially! The people there were really enjoying themselves doing those 50's line dances! We left around 930 to go gamble some more-got a few 4 of a kinds on single line dollar and went to the room- we were bombed LOL I used to be able to drink anyone under the table in my youth but after 4 white zinfindels-PHEW!
 
Thursday we got up 730 and went to starbucks and then went to play STP-first machines sucked! Then we moved the to the only other 2 in the smoking section-and Hubby got dealt a royal in hearts playing 3 line! Boy that was gorgeous! ! Thank goodness for that hit! we proceeded to give back 1500 during the next 10 hrs or so of playing.  We went around 9 to the NY DAY BRUNCH-it was very impressive. They had the ballrooms decorated with a million, flowers trees and plants-it was beautiful-and the food-well everything and anythig from biscuits and gravy to filet mignon and bearnaise sauce and petite lamb chops! Waiters clearing plates and pouring coffee and juices. We didnt eat again till 4pm! LOL
 
This morning we played a little more and left with our original bankroll and 1000 which is going into the cruise gambling envelope. Sunday we go on our cruise-Leaves out of NY to Antigua, Barbados, ST Thomas, Tortola, and St Marten-its probably our 13th or so cruise. 12/10 was our 20th anniversary so we splurged and are going for 10 days! I cant wait! Hopefully the pay tables wont be too bad (yeh right)!

OOPS! Almost forgot-we saw Eagle Eye with that kid Shia Le Bouf-it was pretty good and we saw Prince Caspian of Narnia or whatever its called-it was good too! Only 2 movies-that always shows if we are winning or losing-the more movies the more we are losing!

Lamb Chops, did I hear someone mention Lamb Chops?    That is why you need to carry some Zip Locks with you.
Congratulations on your overall win. I guess between the four of us we brought AC to it's knees over the Holidays.

YESSSSSSSSS! A very good start to 2009 for all of us! Ive been known to abscond with some white choc macadamia nut cookies................

Great trip report and wins, Boops! Bon Voyage! Cruise sounds like a fun time ahead, too. 'Every gambler's dream, being locked up in a casino for ten days providing there's an ATM! Report back to us! Our power was out, so we saw two most interesting movies in two days: The Curious World of BENJAMIN BUTTONS, Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, based on short story by F Scott Fitzgerald. DOUBT with Merle Streep, Amy Adams and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I rarely recommend movies and these were both exceptional. Both films were nominated for five Golden Globe awards. Fantastic International Buffet opened at Greektown the day after Christmas and rivals any in Vegas! High limit area just opened as well. No sign of financial problems for GT or that the crowds are hurting from a severe recession. My last W2G for the year was a .50 royal DW hearts. Dealt 4RF and ten appeared at GT on NYE. Identical win of last visit on the same bank and game. Weird but nice. MGM Detroit was packed w revelers having a great time.

Great news, way to go BOOPS. One of these days I'm going to copy off your hubby and get dealt a royal too. Enjoy your cruise and come back from it with a trip report like this one.

Marie I have a couple friends who live in Cleveland and they drive to GT as often as they can. One of my friends plays ONLY  $1.00 slots, 2 or 3 at a time and he hits pretty regularly there. last week he won $750.00 in some drawing there too. Me and my girlfriend visited Detroit last fall and we will probably go back in early spring. We're going to Las Vegas Jan 16th and are planning a trip to Tunica around my birthday in early March. Congrats again on your year ending royal.

congrats Boops! Also, I'm glad you were able to get that smoking room. Take it from this smoker...I would NOT be a happy camper if they didn't have a smoking room for me

You're absolutely right Ed, I need to start a new (Years) streak of royals. Although I'd also settle for a streak of aces with a kicker on TDB. I started 2008 with 2 royals on New Years Day but we went this past thursday and I was left whiffing at air. Good luck to all, Ted.
