I was at Caesars' Palace yesterday with a $750 reel rewards offer. I put my 1st $100 ticket into an Ultimate X machine and was only planning to play my free play through so I could take the cash and go play at the M Resort and Red Rock. 8 deals into my 1st $100 I hold a jack of diamonds and viola:

This is one of my favorite hits of all-time and here are some of the reasons why:

First of all, how often do we get a foyal (dealt 4 to the RF) and do not pull the Royal Flush. This sort of makes up for some of those by getting just the jack and pulling the rest of the family.

Second, I had just put in a free play coupon and was just running the free play through to go somewhere else with a pretty tight bankroll this trip. I literally was playing less than 2 minutes and pulled this lucky gift out of the sky changing my gameplan completely this trip. I could now be my aggressive self.

Last, maybe displaying a hit like this will shut-up some of the anti-carnival (especially Ultimate X) video poker game naysayers who believe that these games stink and you never hit anything. It is a statistically fact (backed by the Nevada gaming commision) that the carnival game versions have a higher return than their non-carnival equivalants with the same pay table. Yes, the volatility is much higher, but these are the hits that even it out.

Although I've had larger hits than this over the years, this one will always have a special place. I can only now wish that the freak hit aligned with a 10X or 12X multiplier. Maybe next time .

You hit the nail on the head kjohn. I do play at turbo speed, but I could almost see the images of this draw occurring in slow motion. I picked up the royal flush tag display color immediately and before the machine locked up for the hand pay I said to myself, "I just won $3000 by holding a jack." The feeling was intense.

But as things usually go I played some of those winnings aggressively and got smoked at the Red Rock at Dreamcard. They added another machine, btw. And the M Resort now also has several Dreamcard machines starting at nickels (piss poor pay tables though).

Hey, Mule.. WTG...
I'm leaving for Caesars Vegas on Friday for the Super Bowl weekend festivities. I hope you left some "good karma" there for me. If the Ten and Queen were reversed, it would have even been sequential.  I, too, tend to remeber those one-card fiil-ins more than any other jackpots. Again, nice catch...
