VP-Palace Station-Malfunction?

I posted the below on another site---but this is where most of the experts are so I am positing it here also.

This happened at the Palace Station and since I only play 10/7 DB thats the only game it happens on.

I complete a hand and then I deal the next hand. After the cards are dealt and as soon as I hit the far left/left end "hold" button FIRST for one of the hold cards the screen goes back to the screen showing all games (the master screen). Results are that I have lost the credit(s) for that hand and can not play the cards I was dealt...I have to go to the next hand.

It seems to only happen when I mash/hit the left end "hold" button first. This past trip it happened so often I got a technician (person who works on machines) to check my machine. He did and said he could not find anything wrong. So I asked him to watch me play and sure enough after about 6 or so hands I needed to hold left end card and someting else. I hit left end hold button first and then the screen jumps to master screen. So the technician looked at the insides of the machine again. After about 5-10 minutes a supervisor came by and I heard the technician tell the supervisor he watched as I was playing and it did what I said it did.

After another 5-10 minutes the supervisor came to the machine I had moved to and offred me a voucher for the credits I had left on the machine when I left for the tec guy to work on. He indicated they could not find a problem and suggested I was the problem.

Anyway:::my question is....have you had a problem while playing 10/7 DB VP on the machines next to the bingo hall at Palace Station? The problem being when playing 10/7 DB and when hit left end hold button first the screen jumps to master screen and you lose credits for the hand even though you did not get to play it?

Have not played there before, but the times I have experienced exactly what you describe, I was playing quickly... usually after a complete redraw of all 5 cards, I would mistakenly think it was a deal in my fast-play subconcious, hit to hold a card and it would return to the menu. This is because I actually needed to deal 5 new cards, not hold anything. A lot of machines do that (go to the menu) when you hit a hold button after the draw. It drives me crazy when I get taken to the menu.

ED is right, Mary. I know the buttons can be used, instead of the touch screen, to select games and denominations on VP machines. The left most button gets you to the menu when you have COMPLETED a game. If you believe that you were in the middle of a game when that happens, then there is a machine problem. I would not think, though, that it would matter what game you were playing.

Conversation: Tanqueray says , "what the hell just happened?"

Faygo says, "the game was over when you tried to hold a card"

It happens to me more than I'd like to admit. Hitting the buton and going to the menu, that is.

Exactly what I was thinking while reading the post. I would add that if you are playing fast and mistakenly quickly double-click the deal button that the same result would occur. The player may not realize the double-click occurred and may think the displayed cards are the dealt cards, when in fact the deal and draw took place already due to the double-click of the deal/draw button. Also if the deal/draw button is sticking or malfunctioning, a double-click can unknowingly occur. And, as billyjoe said, the left most "hold" button doubles as the "more games" button when the game is not awaiting a draw.

Under the same, only different category ... there's a machine (very old) in one casino I play where you can hit the left most key and middle key very close together and the right most hold button will come on. I informed a tech and showed him and his comment was ... oh yeah, we know about that and don't know how to fix it. So, clearly there can be some electronic malfunctions that cause problems. Most likely a short or a something wired wrong.  I've never played at Palace Station and have never run into the problem you mention at any other Station Casino.

Only time I have been right in 37 years. That would be too bad if it were true, but since you're rarely right, I presume the statement above is false.  Therefore, you've been right either at least twice in 37 years or not right at all ever.

Should have added that was in Tanqueray's view.
